Chen Wei is a Chinese photographer and I was looking at some of his night shots. He uses a lot of strobe lights to create cool lighting and colors with the lighting. He stages and plans out his shots which I think is cool. It is a lot different from how I go into trying to get a cool picture. I don’t really want to mess with whatever I am shooting because I want to see the authenticity. However, it is places in nature is how I want it to be shot. He is self-taught which is neat how he figured all the mechanics out and brought his own ideas without any taught influence. He shows me through his work that it can turn out to be a really neat shot if it is preplanned. Not everything has to be just found; I could come up with an idea and bring it to life.
Lucila Blumencweig is from Argentina and she takes very captivating portraits of people. They are all so vibrant and bright. Everyone is happy and enjoying life with those around them. She uses natural sunlight to make her photos very warm and happy to the eye. I really enjoy how she captures happiness in joy in her photos. For this upcoming assignment I want to have a picture to give off the same vibes as hers do. She also just really captures her country very beautifully. You see where people live and go out. She focuses on the people, but has the background show off parts of her country.

Max Dupain is an Australian photographer who takes almost all of his photos in black in white. I hardly ever prefer black and white photos to colored ones just because I enjoy color much more. His photos are interesting to look through because they had me become more interested in black and white photos. He uses the use of shadows a lot in his portraits and it makes them much more intriguing to look at. It creates a sense of mystery and dimension to the photo. It really adds something to the photo by doing this. He does it very well and the shadows create shapes and sharp lines to spice up the photo.
Night photography was a struggle and something that was completely new, but I think I did some really cool stuff with it. I really enjoyed making designs with flashlights and having those lines and shapes appear on the camera. I did have trouble with focusing on the object I wanted it to. I enjoyed this project though. It was some trial and error on trying to get the right amount of light in and deciding how long to keep the shutter open. I think it went well but was definitely a learning process. Hopefully it will bleed into me creating good lighting for the next project for shooting people in environments.
