THE PAIN ENDS NOW - PLOT DROP

Two months ago, three residents received gifts on their doorsteps. The packages were unsigned, but the instructions were explicitly clear- tell no one about the contents inside or your loved one would pay the price. Only one resident, Todd Miller, did not follow said instructions. Todd attempted to warn Leyla Selvi that her life at risk and, in doing so, made her incredibly ill. Doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong with her and, for those two months, Todd watched as she withered away in the hospital bed, drawing nearer to death's door every day.

To save Leyla's life, Todd returned the mysterious vial he had been given. He buried it in a wooden box within the gardens of Out of Stalk, disposing of a clue that could help the town determine who was behind this. As per the sender's instructions, he should've received the antidote. But weeks went by and... nothing. Not one word from whoever was behind the experiments being performed around town, until one day, Leyla was suddenly better. The hospital hadn't the slightest idea what had happened and, when the local podcasters did some digging, they discovered that the footage the day of the hospital had been erased. Leyla Selvi is now permitted to return home, while podcast host, Margo Howard, stumbled upon what could only be described as a calling card tucked underneath the corner of Leyla's now-empty hospital bed. The card reads as follows-

For everyone else: Leyla is now out of the hospital. If your character has frequented the hospital, they might have noticed the stir of confusion, but other than that, business will be returning to normal as the town sets up for the upcoming event, being a town-wide Rodeo/Hoedown. Our event will kick off in June, but until then, please keep a lookout for some activities of the week that will be dropping soon for you to be able to react/write starters to.

IN THE ARMS OF AN ANGEL - PLOT DROP

It only takes one instant for life to dramatically change and, that instant, for Mason Mahir occurred when they were stumbling home from the Reed Twin's Birthday Bash. They hadn't had much to drink, or at least they couldn't remember if they had, and yet the previous day and a half all seemed rather fuzzy to them. They remembered showing up at Jamie Bennett's house for the party with Rangi Hira as their plus one. They remembered doing a canon ball into the pool. They remembered giving Poppy and Linden their birthday gifts. They remembered nabbing the penne alla vodka Jamie had made and making a run for it around the premises, but everything before that and everything after? Blank.

They stepped out into the cool summer night air, massaging their temples and clutching their side. They could feel a sharp pain along their lower abdomen, but chalked it up to how hard they must have gone back at the party, kicking off on their skateboard to head home. They made it down the street and around the corner. But, as they were skating past the stop sign over on Park Street, they were hit by an oncoming car. The impact was defying. The screaming wails of the banshees that broke out merely second before only made the collision of metal against skin seem ten times worse.

The party was over. Some fled over the fence of Jamie's backyard, while others ran out into the street to see what happened only to find Elena Gomez-Alvaro in tears as she clutched Mason Mahir's frail frame.

"Somebody call 911!"

But, it was too late. The light faded out of Mason's eyes before the ambulance could even show up. Time of death 12:23a. Elena Gomez-Alvaro has now officially triggered her werewolf curse. She will turn by the next full moon. While the rest of the town that was out and about that night watched in horror as another life was taken from them. Rangi Hira clung to one of Mason's hands while Song Seo-Joon held the other and, there was nothing anyone could do, but watch.

REMINDERS

Surprise Lunar Covians! It is time to say goodbye to one of our longstanding characters in this group. Mason Mahir has been a character here since March of last year and, as heartbreaking as it is, it is time for his story to come to an end.

The plot drop is completely optional for you to react to IC, so if you'd like your character to react to the above, you are more than welcome to, but please don't feel obligated to.

While, Mason is no longer here, the character is still Pace's, so please plot with Pace still if you decide to have your character say goodbye to Mason in their last few moments.

For the Werewolves: For the werewolves, you have a new werewolf who will be joining your ranks. Elena Gomez-Alvaro has now triggered their werewolf curse, so feel free to react accordingly.

For the Witches: You have just lost one of your own. Mason will not be coming back at this time, so you're welcome to have your characters react accordingly to that as well.

For everyone: There will be a funeral, held for Mason at a later date. Please keep an eye out for another plot drop to come. Also, for the Council, more information will come as well, so we will be having Council HC's at a later date, but hang tight on that for a few days.

FRIDAY THE 13TH - PLOT DROP

It's that time of year again and, as wise tales go, Friday the 13th is one of the few days a year known for being unlucky. But, what those outside of the Cove don’t know, is the reason as to why.  Friday the 13th just so happens to be a day when Pixies can not only temporarily give their luck to another through touch, but can take it. Throughout the day, regardless of the fae’s control over their abilities, if a pixie touches another, albeit it accidentally or intentionally, they will steal that individual’s luck. The pixie in question will be even more lucky than before, while the person they came into contact with will have horribly unlucky things begin to happen to them one after the other. Their electronics might short circuit, their beverages will spill over, their food will be spoiled etc. But, don’t worry. After 24 hours, their luck will be returned to them. Though an unlucky day isn't the only thing in store for the Lunar Covians.

Something wicked seems to be brewing in the air. Both Billie Fitz (@swimmingwiththefitzes) and Poppy Reed ( @moonglowmagic), woke up this morning in cold sweets having terrible nightmares the night before. They can barely keep their eyes open, haunted by an unsettling feeling festering in their chest as if they can't shake this ominous feeling of being drawn to something, but they can't quite put their finger as to why. Low and beyond, the nightmares have no end in day in sight, these two better get used to some restless nights.

Meanwhile, across town, there is someone else who seems to have had quite the night. One Todd Miller ( @xthetoddinatorx ) awakes in the middle of a field in Echo Acres. His head still feels foggy as though he had spent the previous night out partying, only he doesn't seems to have any memories of the past 48 hours. He is seen stumbling through town, muttering something about an 'alien abduction' and how he woke up in a crop circle with a suspicious looking glint of excitement in his eyes. Only that glint will quickly dwindle when he finally makes his way home to change to find fresh stitches across the lower right side of your abdomen right where his appendix should be...

What happened the night of the 12th? And what more is in store for the Cove with Friday the 13th?

FULL MOON REMINDER & THE COUNCIL'S VERDICT

Reminder Lunar Covians! There is a full moon tonight so you are all advised to keep inside. As a reminder, the full moon affects werewolves and sirens. Werewolves are told to remain in Echo Acres with everyone else being advised to keep out of the woods tonight if you are not a wolf. For Sirens, the salt water pools specifically at the Fae Court are for you (the regular pools are still open to residents on the other side of the Emerald Hotel far away from the sirens). You can swim there to your heart's content without the worry of luring any nearby people into the water (though some Sirens still decide to rebel and swim out in the Cove, singing their song for all to hear). This will also be Elena Gomez-Alvaro's first full moon to shift as a newly turned wolf. This full moon is also a Strawberry Moon which tells that it is time to harvest ripe strawberries and is known for its low position in the sky, giving it a warm, golden hue. The Strawberry Moon invites people to reflect on where they've come in their life and begin to plan where they will go, which is timely, given that just after the full moon was a Council meeting to reflect upon the death of Mason Mahir.

The Council meeting this time around was rough to say the least, spanning over the course of two days with much deliberation and back and forth. That being said the information from the meeting that was revealed to the public is as follows-

A trial was held to determine Elena's fate, though before the trial there was much debate over what organization you should try an untriggered werewolf as after they have immediately triggered their curse. Should they be tried as a member of the Coalition, a member of the Pack or as unaffiliated? It was decided that while untriggered werewolves can join the Coalition when they have yet to trigger their curse, after triggering their curse/changing species, they will have up until the full moon to decide whether or not to join the Pack. Their trial will be postponed until then. If they have not joined the Pack after the first full moon, they will be tried as unaffiliated.

Elena was then found guilty at the end of the deliberation for breaking accord #1. She received the following sentence-

Suspension of her license for up to 10 years, which may be shortened to five if she completes remedial driving courses and has no further infractions.

5 to 8 hours of Community Service a week, for the next year. Totaling approximately 260 to 416 hours, not enough to interfere with her livelihood but enough that it will be a solid commitment. These hours will require a sign-off from whoever she's doing them for, and will cover a variety of community activities—from helping with media and music classes at the high school, to assisting with local businesses and events, picking up trash & generally helping with repairs (that we always seem to need.) The point is to help the community she is now a part of, in a way that she can contribute to for years to come, and honors Mason's involvement with the community.

A financial penalty of 5000-10000 dollars, to be paid in monthly installments determined by her financial status. One half of which will be given to the Coven, and the other half to be donated to the Town, who may then choose to put it towards a charity or community development. She may take an interest-free loan from the Pack if she chooses, to help facilitate payment.

Elena will only be allowed to leave the town with permission of the Council, if it's deemed absolutely necessary, for the next 5 years, at which point her punishment will be re-evaluated, to ensure that we still believe they are fair and equitable.

She must undergo training with the Alpha and the Pack to ensure that she develops proper control of her abilities, and will not be a danger to civilians from her new abilities. The Alpha will be the one to determine when she's met those conditions, and until then is subject to only shifting within the bounds of Echo Acres. Any violation of this will result in a more serious restriction going forward, including increased monitoring and potential confinement, which the Alpha and the Pack will be responsible for ensuring and upholding. A representative from the Coven may check in at any time they wish, to make sure the set guidelines are being followed, as long as doing so doesn't overly invade on her privacy.

If Elena intentionally causes any harm to any member of the Coven or other citizen, or violates any other Accord from this point forward, the punishment will be severe (potentially Abjuration).

Elena will need to make a public PSA aimed at both drivers and pedestrians, reminding all to be mindful of their surroundings as a pedestrian and behind the wheel. It will be aired on the local news and played on the radio waves during Mason’s usual show time.

The Council also decided to reduce Rohan Persaud sentence due to good behavior, permitting him, should he ever turn/lose his magic, to join the other organizations. Rohan is still banned from the Coven however and if Rohan ever gives the Council a reason to, his sentence could go back into effect/future actions could be taken.

In terms of Mason's missing organ, the Council will be working with the Sheriff's department together. The Deputy Sheriff and the soon-to-be future Sheriff will attend council meetings on occasion for briefings. They are checking in with the local hospitals and morgues around Lunar Cove to see if any surgeries have been conduction with someone who fits Mason's description.

The council has also decided to hire Solstice Therapy to conduct a town-wide trust building event which will be our next event that kicks off in July being the "Campfire Retreat"!

After some deliberation, we have decided to update the WC for the town sheriff to be for the Deputy Sheriff which you can fine here. While we wait for the WC to be filled, we will have an NPC town Sheriff who is newly instated by the name of Adonis Ridgeport (age 41, they/them pronouns). Adonis used to the Deputy Sheriff of the Sheriff department back in the day, but retired a few years back before Lorelai Cavanaugh was instated. Adonis never worked with Lorelai Cavanaugh and, for that reason, was offered the position. They are well aware that some people in town will be wary of them stepping into this position, but they are up for the challenge and feel a strong obligation to turn the Sheriff's department around.

There is now a tip line at the Sheriff's department that is managed by the Deputy Sheriff, though it has been receiving a number of prank calls. If you'd like to submit a prank call, please submit the below form to the Lunarcoveinspo blog here-

BLEEDING LOVE - PLOT DROP

TW: Death, Injury, Violence, Blood, Missing/Harvested Organs, Mourning, Abduction

The time of death was 12:23a. The paramedics showed up to the scene shortly before hand. They managed to get Mason Mahir into the ambulance. Rangi Hira still holding on their hand from the back of the vehicle, while Song Seo-Joon road in the front. A scared and crying Elena Gomez-Alvaro was escorted to the side to recount what happened to the authorities (or at least what was left of them without an acting Sheriff in town). But, on the drive to the hospital, Mason didn't make it. Their body was brought down to the hospital morgue and their family called. But, upon further inspection, it quickly became realized that Mason Mahir's cause of death was not entirely due to the accident.

Mason had a punctured and newly stitched up wound along their abdomen. The wound was new and had to have occurred over the past 48 hours. The stitching was, peculiarly perfect, as if it had been done by a professional, but there was no records of Mason having underwent a surgery recently, let alone over the past day or so. Yet, their gallbladder was missing and they had been suffering from internal bleeding before the time of impact. The crash merely spend up the inevitable and, thanks to a ragtag gang of murder mystery podcasters, the Deputy was able to determine that no one could place Mason's whereabouts from the past 48 hours. It is as if they up and disappeared. As of now, the deputy is leading the investigation until a new sheriff can be appointed (WC for the Sheriff position can be found here).

In the meantime, the Mahir's will be holding a funeral for Mason. The antyesti, the funeral rites, is informed by the idea that the body and soul are distinct entities. The general belief is that when a person passes away, their body dies while their soul goes on, though funeral customs differ among different sects, castes and groups. The Mahirs have chosen less traditionally strict funeral, tailoring the ceremonies to Mason specifically and their family whom have lived in the Western world for a long time. Rather than the traditional three parts, they have opted out of having the first part of a Hindu funeral take place at home. Traditionally (and dependent on sect), no embalming is necessary and the first part of a Hindu funeral will take place within 24 hours at home where members of the family will wash their loved one's body with a combination of yogurt, milk, ghee, and honey etc. But, given that Mason was sent to the hospital and the body was held for some time at the mortuary, they've had a light embalming process. They then had a cremation ceremony for Mason, known as the "mukhagni", which was done within 24 hours of Mason's time of death, just before sunset, so that their soul could be set free with minimal delay. The cremation ceremony was reserved for Mason's family and specific friends of the family who attended in white and were modestly dressed (this portion of the funeral is not open to the public so please don't have your character attending if Pace has not granted your character permission to do so). There will be a mourning period happening for 12 days after with immediate family and friends of the family as well (similar to the cremation ceremony, please don't have your characters attend without permission).

The 13th day will be the final prayer which will be open to the public where other friends of Mason's are welcome to attend. It is preferred for individuals who attend this ceremony to wear white as well. No gifts or flowers should be brought to the funeral, although flowers may be sent or brought ahead of time or after. Food is also not recommended as it is typically prepared by different members of the immediate family, though if you would like your character to bring food, the Mahirs will accept it if it is brought after the final prayer.
