Miss Long Island Pageant 2019

Beautiful gown from #Luxeboutique. I re-wore my dress from the Miss New York USA Pageant and I could not be happier with my decision. I love this gown!!

As you’ve seen from my recent posts, I didn’t win Miss Long Island. Of course this stung at first. I worked my a** off for this pageant and to get where I am. I have also come to realize in the past few days after the show, that maybe I am not meant to have the crown and all that comes with it. Maybe part of my journey is to be fearless and take on new challenges that lead me into the direction of becoming my best self. After the pageant was over a woman came up to me, congratulated me and then proceeded to let me know that I had done an amazing job, and that if there were any other judges there that night, maybe the outcome would have been different. I am a strong believer in that everything happens for a reason. All in all I had an amazing time at the Pageant! I made sure to enjoy each moment as it came and to not stress about what was coming next. That is what I am most proud of because I felt like Miss New York was so rushed for me. Our newest Miss Long Island, Michelle, worked just as hard to become our new Queen and I congratulate her and wish her all the best! I know she will make a great impact in our communities and raise awareness for her platform.  There were two divisions for in this Pageant the Miss, and the Teen and I have to say I was exceptionally proud of the teens. They  killed it!! Each girl was so genuine and kind and really did an amazing job. Looking back in my life to high school, I would never have been able to strut myself and talk in front of judges and especially on stage!!!  I applaud each and every one of you for putting yourselves out there, all 25 of you girls. We all did it and really should be so proud of ourselves.  I always wanted to do a pageant, even as a little girl my mom and I would watch the Miss America pageant on TV and I dreamed of the day that I would get to walk that runway. It’s an incredible feeling to say that I’ve accomplished that dream. It was one of the most empowering moments of my life. I didn’t know it was possible to be sweating yet freezing all at the same time. The adrenaline you get from hearing your name, and stepping into that circle spotlight, it’s a feeling unlike anything I have ever experienced before. The girls in this pageant definitely helped the experience to be that much more fun. We lifted each other up and fixed each other if needed before walking out on stage and I have to say it was so empowering to experience. (scroll down)

After interviews all us girls sat around waiting for our photo shoot, discussing how it couldn’t have gone worse and I wish everyone would see that moment when we all realized we were human and felt the same way. I wish more people would treat each other the way we all did after those 3 minutes. I think that would change the world.  I am grateful for every girl who helped me in some way and for helping the girls who needed it most. Every single girl was so beautiful in their own way and so smart. We all want to make a difference in New York, the world and especially in our own communities of Long Island. A few of the amazing platforms woman supported was Autism Awareness, More woman in corporate jobs, Mental Health and Anxiety and Depression awareness. These girls are so powerful, passionate, and hardworking. I gained some amazing friends  too,  It’s great to be surrounded by so many like minded people who seriously just want the best for everyone involved. No matter how bad we all wanted to win there wasn’t one moment I felt like I was being judged or wished bad upon. I think that is the most beautiful part of this process and being apart of these Pageants. We all went out there and gave it everything we had, there wasn’t one second I felt that no one there deserved to be on that stage. Then I realized, that all the girls and even I did everything we could do to achieve the goal of becoming Miss Long Island and that’s all that matters. We put ourselves out there and pushed through our fears that day. Just because I wasn’t the one they chose doesn’t take away any of the hard work I put into being on that stage.  Once I allowed myself the time to be upset I began to realize all of the amazing things I gained from this experience and how truly grateful I am to have participated in both the Miss New York and Miss Long Island pageant. In the last year my mentality has grown even stronger, especially when I learned to push myself harder than I ever have.

Boxing was a major factor for me this time around. I have never sweat as much and pushed myself so hard in a workout before, and I have @Twochampsboxing A.K.A Casey to thank for pushing me. The strength I have gained from this sport is unlike anything I have ever done, and I’ve tried a lot of different workouts. My confidence has grown so much throughout the past few years but after this pageant I couldn’t be happier where I am in my life and how I look. Standing on that stage and giving everything you have changes you. The moment that the lights are shining on you and you here your cue to go, something triggers in you. It’s like an out of body experience. You just go and try to have fun, make sure you smile, and put your personality out there. Before you know it it’s over but you do realize one thing, it no longer matters what anyone has to think or say about you. Who cares what anyone thinks of you. All that does matter is how you perceive yourself. No one is going to follow your dreams for you and people are always going to think your crazy, do it anyway. I worked hard to achieve the body and mind I have. After everything that has happened to me in the past 2 years this is what I know for sure, I am proud to be open and always evolving. 

It also helps to have an amazing support system. Each time I came off stage someone new told me that I had the loudest section out there. ( Shout out to my amazing family for showing up, it meant more to me that you could possibly know!) I have to say my biggest supporter throughout this whole process has been Steven. He has been the best friend that I have always wanted and has truly been there every step of the way, even helping me blow out my extensions. I am grateful to have someone as beautiful as him. He pushes me to be the best that I can be every single day. He makes me not want to give up. The process no matter what we have been through, has been my favorite with him. Although the pageant is over, I believe my legacy will carry on. My platform wasn’t only for the Miss Long Island Pageant, it stands true for everything I believe in and it’s what I plan to build my business around. It is my passion to empower you all to take control of your lives through health, wellness, and mental well-being. I will continue to motivate, encourage, and educate you all on the benefits of natural healing methods.

But for now I am just grateful to have been given the opportunity to be apart of it all. From 3,000 girls who applied for Miss New York only 150 were chosen, and if not for that pageant Leanne and Jackie would have never found me for Miss Long Island. We may not see it in the moment but there is a reason for everything. That moment of courage will change your life, it will open doors you want or a door that’s meant for you. No matter what it will push you forward into something more than what was before. Stay courageous, stay glowing and remember to always follow your dreams! (No matter how crazy they may seem to everyone else)
