Something about the Ever After High books I like is we get to see just how much Maddie and the Mad Hatter love each other.

Spoilers by the way if you're planning on reading them and haven't yet.

The Mad Hatter literally distracts a monster, that could very well kill him just so Maddie and the others have a chance at being safe and stopping said monster. When Maddie is in trouble and is being sent away to Neverland as punishment the Mad Hatter is right there behind her, ready to close up forever just to be with his daughter. I forget if he was required to, though or if he just wanted to because he's he's a good dad

He also cares for her friends so much too. He's just such a sweet and caring dad and I love that so much. Also in the actual show we see him care for her and her friends.

If I recall correctly the Mad Hatter is one of two wonderlandian adults that escaped Wonderland after the curse and he was one of the main people that made sure everyone who could got out as safe as possible.

Instead of getting mad at them for eating all the pies in the shop (even straight up stealing them from other patrons) he just gets them another pie! They must be hungry!

Him and Maddie's little handshake is cute, the way he's proud of her for getting in detention. I just love their father daughter relationship so much.
