Nin on Mordred:

I thought only dwarves could pack up so much cynicism and grumpiness in such a tiny body.

But, and as it’s often the case, the loudest traits are a façade. 

He’s not called ‘Hero’ for nothing.

Nin on Maedwyn:

Troubled. He maintains a carefully crafted shell around him. Whether to shield himself from the world or to shield others from what he thinks of himself, I do not know. 

He’s also bitter at times, but I can’t blame him. We all are.

Mordred was actually the first oc of yours that i ran into and man i love that small angry arcane warrior. I love Suranas and I really love when they just break the mold and Mordred is such a different character and I love how unique he is in every way. Also warrior mages are my jam. Maedwyn is also just really fucking interesting oh man. KNIGHT VIGILANT WITH COMMITMENT ISSUES??? I love him.

👀 Maedwyn Lavellan if it's not too much of a bother?

I cannot believe this boy made up a name because Cassandra scared him. Remarkable. Very interesting choice having him specialize as a Templar, but really understandable justification for it - playing a DA game as a character who fears magic is always challenging (for me, at least), especially because as a player you have a larger picture of the effects of that fear. I love love love that you do have a Templar focused character that still is very pro-templar but anti Chantry establishment? There’s a lot of really interesting conflicts going on with him, and he’s adorable... sooo.

Yukinko came from the middle of snowy nowhere in some deep, deep Othardian frozen mountains, but his mother spoiled him rotten so he also had no life skills.

Liios could craft a whole lot but he couldn't cook. If the "dish" was more complicated than "put meat in the pot to boil and maybe add 2 packages of seasoning" then forget about it. Him and Estinien relied on the curry shops and street food vendors in Razd-at-Han for survival.

Only Meowdred could do everything. Craft, cook, clean. But unlike the bunnies....... he couldn't hunt.

Maedwyn was just a massive LOL across the board. 200+ years old and all he'd done was spy work and getting pampered by important people who thought he was hot and wise. He'd starve to death 3 miles from civilization.

How flirt when OCs smooth but writer awkward potato??? (Me) Maedwyn flirting: shirtless within sight of his interest with only a towel thrown around his neck, to show off dem muscles. Alternatively catch em in the tavern where he'll make friendly talk for 5 minutes and then pull out the Husky Sultry Voice. Complete w/ eyebrow wagging to hint to them it can be taken as a joke (leave them a way out) if they need it.

Varlen: O-ho! Two can play at that game! 

But uh, you can go ahead and do that voice again. Y’know... for reasons.

Ah yes, Maedwyn. The one with a terrible sense of humour, which he uses as a coping mechanism at the most inappropriate of times. All joking and adaptive mannerisms aside, he’s such a strong man. Not afraid to make the hard decisions, and stays firm in doing so. Believes in what he does and isn’t afraid to show that he is to be taken seriously. Even if he knows how politics work, he doesn’t have time for it when he has a world to save. He knows where the priorities lie, and doesn’t dance around them when there’s the an impending war at their doorstep.

Basic Maedwyn Lore (the viera guy I just posted pics of)

- he/him

- he's vaguely from Dalmasca. He can fake any accent and is a very skilled linguist even if he didn't have the Echo, which he did, so no one can tell for SURE which region he hailed from.

- does it matter, he asked you. Maedwyn is well into his second century, and he isn't going to dwell on his origins.

- Meowdred's occasional tank friend, a well of wisdom when it came to money management and running a free company because Maedwyn headed his own, and also just general Old Man Wisdom.

- Maedwyn was, obviously, not his only name. He went by "Vrantha" in the Coliseum, which he had a decent side gig in, though for the most part Maedwyn's main thing was mercenary contracts in and near Thanalan.

- he fought in the Battle of Carteneau, but was wounded and out of commission early on and was discharged from the field. When he came to, his old free company were all missing in action and presumed dead. Maedwyn floated through the wounded, seared Eorzea for two hazy years before "settling" in Ul'dah, where he gained entry into the Coliseum but was too smart to sign himself into an airtight sponsorship, and had since "earned" his emancipation and made $$$ as he liked.

- Mordred never asked Maedwyn about his past, since whose past was happy enough to share with acquaintances these days. But there were burn scars on Maedwyn's ankles and neck that he glimpsed occasionally. And it made Mordred think about how Garlean conscripts were made to wear shock collars.

- is a pleasant and diplomatic person. Can give you a full speech without saying a damn thing about himself.

- Maedwyn's new free company that he heads is comprised of only twelve members, but they're a highly trusted group that the Immortal Flames pay good money to. They tried SO hard also to recruit the whole group but Maedwyn refused to work for any damn government, though more in the way an eel is slippery than stonewalling recruitment efforts.

- his lieutenant joked that he had a more capricious and tulmutous romance with the Grand Company recruiter than he did with his wife. Not that Maedwyn had a wife. Last he checked, his latest toxic ex was still alive, so he couldn't go around cooking new drama for himself.

- Theodore tried his luck with him once and Maedwyn gave him the Magnai "I am not interested, little sun. Try again when you have become a man" treatment. Theodore was Scorched. And nowadays he called him ser.
