Hello, students!

Are you ready for another mini lesson? Today in class we will learn about something that doesn't exactly pertain to magic, but something that may help you understand yourselves better. It can also somewhat explain your wild magic to an extent. We shall learn about the origin and making of Souls. Not many know how souls are born, but I do!

Souls are made most often through powerful events, be it calm or calamity. I have cast a powerful spell on you all so you may determine where your soul had come from and-

Well...I believe these aren't permanent. The last batch of mishaps have mostly passed. Moving on,

There are many ways to tell how your soul was made, and sometimes even exactly where it was made! I am going to use a personal favorite of mine, though. I have cast a spell over every student here! Sometime in the future a bug will be attracted to you. If you see a certain bug nearby, go to the guide below, for they know your origin.

Apterygota - Your soul was made from something powerful in the Between. The Between is the realm of Monsters. Magic from these realms are wild and unpredictable. Your wild magic may reflect that.

Palaeoptera - Your soul was made from a catastrophic weather event. Magic from storms are overwhelming and strong.

Polyneoptera - Your soul was slowly made over time in the deep wilderness. Magic from nature is scary and beautiful.

Paraneoptera - Your soul was made from someone else's death. Magic from impactful deaths are elusive and perplexing.

Endopterygota - Your soul was made from deep space. Magic from the outer planes are unbounded.

So keep a close eye out for any insect! It just might tell you something about yourself...

Um...Hello. So I was told that Death was roaming the halls? They're actually not that bad, but seeing as they aren't exactly sentient it might be kind of difficult to communicate with...uh...hey, what's thaaaAAAHHHHH-

Mx. Newton I just realised something,,, does this academy have a name? I was looking around and I'm not sure if I'm just oblivious but I can't seem to find a name?

Why, no! It actually doesn't. I was thinking that you students could name it instead!

So go ahead and send me submissions for what we should name the academy. I'll hand pick a few and put it into a poll so we can vote on it!

what do you mean you don't have taste buds

I do not have the sensation of taste whatsoever! Nor smell. But it is fine, I do not enjoy "eating" in the same way that those who taste and digest things do. I feel bad for those who can't absorb and disseminate things. I can't imagine not being able to quop and judder. Truly, you are all missing out.

Mx. Newton, should we Soil wizards be especially concerned about Literally Death roaming around? I worry reaching around it's design might make it... upset at us.

Well, it isn't particularly alarming normally. Death wanders everywhere, it has most likely walked along the same path as you at some point or another. Death is like a bloodhound looking for the next soul to usher into the further. The worrisome thing here, though, is that a particular student has managed to set off its Shepard-like senses and is trying to find them. The worrisome thing, though, is that it doesn't know exactly which one it is since the student isn't actually dying or about to die. It is confusing Death. Thankfully for us, death gets bored easily seeing as it is a dog.

Ah...So that's where my Grandmothers ashes went. If any Soil Wizards see a decrepit woman in a cloak with a cane just let me know. Tell her that her ashes were used for something really cool and that I love her.

Also, beautiful work, young Parchment Wizard! You'll make a fine addition to the school. We are lucky to have you, despite your thievery and accidental desecration of a corpse. Hopefully you won't make too many enemies with the Soil Wizards over that...

Death is a dog???

Yes! In fact, most dogs are descendants of Death. Many Soil Wizards take up Soul Sight dogs as their companions. Most dogs can see the occasional spirit, mostly animal spirits, though. However, training the right kind of dog can allow you a glimpse into the ether through another beings eyes. Unlike humans, Soul Sight dogs can sniff out spirits and demons.

Ok so i dont want to be offensive but what exactly are you and what kind of magic do you specialize in? I know you come from an egg because you say “when i was a hachling” sometimes

Uhh...Did I say that? Haha, you must have misheard... Say, who wants to go on a field trip to Unicorn Mountain? I hear that if you eat the cotton candy trees your eyes will be able to see into deep space. Perhaps even we could pit-stop at Sexy Vampire forest! If you partake in their wine...nay, I shant say.

Uh… w-what do you mean by… my blood is haunted-?? Haha…

Well, it means that your blood has now- for the time being- has become the "haunted house" for any wandering ghosts. Some high level Soil Wizards have this ailment permanently, and have found ways to deal with this. Somehow you students born in the winter have temporarily gained that curse. Depending on how powerful you are, and what type of magic you wield, results can vary. You may look like a beacon in the night, or a flickering candle in the wind for ghosts and demons. If your blood starts to sound like Cicadas, a body snatching demon/ghost may have their sights set on you. If that is the case, then you will have to go to the infirmary!

Wonderful! I am a great fan of voidlings! I often get mistaken for one, which is very flattering! They are kind and watchful creatures. Many are mischievous in nature, but mostly in a good way! :)

just a clumsy void creechur with a fondness for creation and fun! hoards practically anything artistic that is within range... includes playing various instruments, creating music, writing stories, drawing characters, whittling, knitting-- consistency is overrated, anyway! why do one thing when you can do everything?

Hi! Newish student here! Just a question! When you say "death has entered the halls"...do you mean figuratively or literally?? Because I have concerns about the former and revelations about the later

Oh, I mean that in the most literal of forms. No metaphors or similes here. The undead embodiment of Death has come to this Academy. Try not to ring any bells or stare into places that draw your attention unnaturally. Death is thankfully blind, but they can sense others and have excellent hearing.

Worry not, pupil. Death loses interest quite fast! They may be an immortal vessel of departure, but he is only canine. I'm sure the ghost of a squirrel will lure it away!

what... *do* you eat, if not "food that decays," may i ask? in a purely hypothetical "if i'm gonna bring snacks for everyone it would be very rude to leave out our teacher" kind of way.

Hmm! Well, I enjoy eating rocks and minerals. However, I am a bit picky. I don't like the rocks you'd find above ground for obvious reasons, but I am also not a fan of anything sedimentary. Although the only above ground rocks I enjoy would have to be Igneous rocks. The way they melt into my matter makes my atoms vibrate. I prefer the igneous rocks found in the bottoms of the piles, or in the dirt.
