The precise and skillful editing by Ninad Khanolkar kept this high-end action-thriller as precise as possible, covering a duration of 2 hours and 10 minutes only. The sequences in the movie have a smooth flow throughout with no diverting instances. Direction That Deserves An Appreciation Anirudh Iyer’s direction of An Action Hero truly deserves applause. This is his debut film as a director and I must say, he definitely knows the craft of filmmaking. His narrative style is just awesome! The Bad: Ayushmann Khurrana’s Image Ayushmann Khurrana has marvelously carried himself as the Bollywood action hero Maanav Khuranna in An Action Hero. He has aptly placed himself in the character of Maanav. Reports reveal that he had even undergone martial arts training for this role. However, there’s something known as an image! Ayushmann Khurrana has played very vulnerable roles in whatever films he has done till now. He had a comical lover-boy image earlier. His first action film was Anek. When it was released, the audiences found it hard to accept him as an action hero. Now, this is his second action film and that too by the name “An Action Hero”! If you ask me, I would say that Indian audiences are still finding it hard to accept him in such intense action-oriented roles. In spite of a job well done, he may not be favored by the audience. So, I don’t know if it was a wise decision for the filmmakers to cast Bollywood’s ex-lover boy, Ayushmann Khurrana as the protagonist of a serious action-thriller like this one. Some Flaws In The Screenplay The story of An Action Hero by Anirudh Iyer is uniquely different which succeeds in captivating the audiences. It is interesting enough to engage you till the end. There are some amazing twists and turns within the story which further add to the thrill. Instances like the introduction of the character of crime lord Mahamod Ibrahim (played by Gautam Joglekar) were a turning point in the story. Gautam Joglekar as the crime lord was fantastic, and he did live up to the character. Further, the thrill was sustained till the very end, as only in the climax we got to know what really happened to Bhoora Solanki. However, Neeraj Yadav’s screenplay has some minor flaws. I am not saying the screenplay is bad. It is very interesting. But the minor flaws in it may make the story seem a bit unrealistic. Allow me to point out those to you! https://youtu.be/EI5Tq1lVuVs Maanav, an action superstar of Bollywood, happens to be a public figure. He is shown absconding to the UK. If you ask me, this doesn’t suit a public personality like him. If he is himself convinced that the death of Vicky Solanki was accidental, then he could have very well considered informing the police about the matter. This was no premeditated crime. So chances of Maanav being innocent in this case were high. He, in fact, made situations worse for himself by running away from the police which made everyone assume him to be a cold-blooded murderer. He needed to have the basic maturity to understand that at some point in time he will definitely be caught. There is no escape from the law. And if he gets caught, then he would have to narrate the same story to the police that it was just an accident. So, why not go to the police and tell the truth now?! Yes, there is always a risk but if he had considered surrendering to the police after the accidental death of Vicky, chances were that things would have turned out in his favor. The second flaw in the screenplay is what I praised a bit ago. “Put your gun down, and let’s fight hand-to-hand!” Yes, this is a man-to-man fight but, if you think logically, it is direly absurd. Bhoora Solanki who is bent upon avenging his brother’s death should have shot and killed Maanav at their very first confrontation. Instead, in spite of having a gun, he puts his gun aside and persuades Maanav to fight him hand-to-hand. This looks somewhat illogical. I think such weak instances have been put in the screenplay just to elongate the drama. Another minus point in the screenplay is that there is no female lead! Except for two romantic dance tracks where Ayushmann can be seen dancing with Nora Fatehi and Malaika Arora, who made special guest appearances, there is literally no female casting in this film. Along with action and thrill, Indian audiences love romance, which is seriously lacking in this movie. The Verdict: The filming for An Action Hero was wrapped up within three months. It began in January 2022 and ended in March 2022. I believe, the only aspect which may stop the audiences from liking this awesome action-thriller is Ayushmann Khurrana’s image. I don’t know what made the filmmakers cast Ayushmann for such a dynamic action-oriented role. It’s true that the film has some amount of comedy involved which in fact makes it a black comedy. So, the filmmakers might have thought that casting a comical hero for an intense action role might do this film well. But they forgot that there are other heroes in Bollywood too like Vidyut Jammwal and Tiger Shroff, who is made for action! If you are on the lookout for a true action hero for a film which is titled “An Action Hero”, then might as well cast these actors rather than Ayushmann! But Vidyut Jammwal and Jaideep Ahlawat already had a confrontation in the 2013 action-thriller Commando. So, I think the filmmakers might have decided that it is time for a change! Whatever the case may be, An Action Hero is for sure a high-octane entertainer. If you are an action and thrill lover, then this is just the movie for you. Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan who recently completed 20 years in the industry weighed in on the ongoing debate on nepotism. Ever since the unfortunate demise of Sushant Singh Rajput, the debate on nepotism has been reignited and those from the film families have been on the receiving end of trolling and criticism.

In a recent interview with journalist Barkha Dutt, Kareena said that for her to work so long in the industry would not have been possible if the audience had not accepted her. “21 years of working would not have happened with just nepotism. It is not possible. I can take a long list out of superstars’ children for whom it’s not been able to happen that way,” she said.

She said that even though she comes from a privileged background, she has her own struggle even though it might not be as interesting as the others. “It might sound weird but my struggle is there. There is a struggle but it probably is not as interesting as somebody who comes in a train with just Rs 10 in his pocket. Yeah, it’s not been that and I can’t be apologetic about it,” she said.

The Good Newwz actress said that she finds this whole discussion weird as it is people who make stars. “The audience has made us, nobody else has made us. The same people pointing fingers, they are only making these nepotistic stars. Aap jaa re ho na film dekhne? Mat jao. Nobody has forced you. So I don’t understand it. I find this whole discussion is completely weird,” Kareena added.

Kareena also cited examples of successful outsiders who have become stars of Bollywood. She said, “The idea is that today so many of our biggest stars whom you (the audience) have chosen, whether it is Akshay Kumar or Shah Rukh Khan or Ayushmann Khurrana or Rajkummar Rao, are all outsiders. They are successful actors because they have worked hard. Whether it is Alia Bhatt or Kareena Kapoor, we have also worked hard. You are enjoying our films and watching them. So, it’s the audience that makes or breaks us.”

Malaika Arora and Kajol took to Instagram on Tuesday to share their quarantine mood. While Malaika shared a few selfies, Kajol posted a throwback picture from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

Sharing a collage of her selfies, Malaika wrote, “My various stages of lockdown… #stayhomestaysafe #staysane.” The fitness enthusiast can be seen posing for the camera in different moods.

Malaika’s sister Amrita Arora reacted to the post, “Awwww cute.”

Kajol shared a still from her 1995 film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and captioned it, “Flashback to when we dressed up to go out…. #Lookingback.” The still is from the song Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna and shows her decked up in a green outfit paired with gold jewellery.

Meanwhile, Sunny Leone spent a day out in the US. She shared a glimpse of her visit to a wildlife centre with her kids. She can be seen feeding a giraffe with her hand. Every dark cloud had a silver lining. And this time, while it may seem like the worst time and in so many ways it actually is, has also forcefully made us all stop and deal with things we might have been running away from because either we were ‘busy’ or it was convenient to say we were ‘busy’. If this time is respected for what it is, it will enable more light to shine through. This time has also made us all realise what’s truly important. For me just having food, water and a roof over my head and the good health of my family seems MOST important. Everything else is a bonus that I bow my head in gratitude for. But, that which we call ‘basic’ is not so basic for everyone after looking at all the people who struggle for just those few things. My prayers with them and their families. May everyone be safe and secure. This time has surely made me more reflective. This need to stay at home with your loved ones has been forced upon the entire world but there is a deep lesson for us all. There is a lesson to strive for work and life balance ( I’ve valued and strived for this dearly for many years now ), there is a lesson to devote more time in things that actually matter. Today, when I’m surrounded by all the blessings in my life, I just want to tell everyone how much compassion I feel for everyone who I see suffer. I want to help as many possible in the best of my abilities. I feel pride in our resilience to be better human beings. I can instinctively feel this in and around me. We will all have our individual and subjective lessons from this time and hopefully, such lessons will continuously stay with us all.

Since the lockdown started, Shibani and his “foo” often shared glimpses from their couple diaries on Instagram and for one such post, Shibani explained that’s because they didn’t get the social distancing memo. Keeping Up With Malaika And Arjun’s Social Media PDA:

New couple on the block Malaika Arora and Arjun Kapoor may be living in separate houses during the lockdown but are setting major PDA goals on Instagram. Arjun and Malaika were spotted together on Janta Curfew, clapping from their balconies, after which they have only been spotted exchanging cute comments on Instagram. “You know I smile in my sleep nah,” Malaika told Arjun when he tried to point out that she’s smiling in her sleep. For another post of Malaika captioned “What to do next”, Arjun wrote: “Thinking where to sleep next.” LOL.

Arjun Rampal And Gabriella Share The Workload:

Arjun Rampal and Gabriella Demetriades, parents to a baby boy named Eric, have divided their work duties. “Who knew how good he was at vacuuming?” Gabriella wrote for a post. They also turned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 9 pm-9 minute challenge into a candlelight date night. Hrithik and Sussanne may not be couple goals but they sure are setting parenting goals higher every day. Hrithik and Sussanne, who divorced in November 2014, continue to remain friends and their status changed to partners in lockdown only recently. Sussanne not only has shifted to Hrithik’s house during the lockdown period but has also set up office her temporary address. In a recent post, Hhrithik revealed that his interior designer ex-wife has taken up the job of eradicating “design irregularities” in the house. Earlier, Hrithik had shared a thank you note for Sussanne, writing: “Thank you Sussanne for being so supportive and understanding in our journey of co-parenting. Our children will tell the story we create for them.”

My temporary ‘home work space’ was interestingly put together to bring a little element of play while I work. The funny thing is, my time on this ‘put together’ desk (made of flat cushion seats from an existing sofa seating composition that we had in this space, and then we put a low lying coffee table on top and…there it was, my perfect desk!) with a view of the glorious Arabian Sea and an isolated Juhu beach, this is a visual which honestly I shouldn’t get used to! As I sit and ponder over the ghastly effects of what this dreadful virus has had on each one of us, and what it may continue to have on the entire planet in general, I must say I can’t help but feel along with the uncertainty, an inner peace. There will be a diverse amount of good, that its post effects will bring on all of us. The kind that will remind us to grow a little each day, to produce better solutions for our projects, to be more giving for the less fortunate and most importantly, to be better contributors in our daily lives towards this beautiful planet.
