The Quest for Spiritual Truth

We are divine spiritual beings. That much is true whether we believe it or not. And all of us have a relationship with God. Whether it is one of doubt or one of faith, only we can tell. Science may have diverged from the path of the spiritual, but it doesn’t prove the inexistence of the divine. In fact, all the laws of science point to a power far greater than we can imagine. This divine power is what we seek in our quest. The quest for spiritual truth transcends the dogmas of established religion. This is why religion often frowns on metaphysics, because the latter is not limited to the chosen beliefs of a few. The quest really is a personal one. In whatever way we look for the source of our spirituality, whatever means we communicate with the divine outside of us, is entirely up to us. Let us not forget, we are all divine, eternally a part of the divine outside of us. Tapping the divine outside is inherent in all of us, but some have successful closed themselves off by allowing negativity to control them. How can we reach out to the divine? Prayer and meditation are both powerful tools of communicating with the divine and with the entities in other planes of existence. Some of us are more open to them and, therefore, are able to perceive them more clearly than others. But just because you cannot see, hear, or feel others does not mean they do not exist. Just like God, other entities exist whether we believe it or not. If we need proof, how can we discount Seth and Lazaris? How can we ignore our “gut feel,” our instincts, or premonitions? These entities are like us, in the sense that they too are divine beings, but because they are in a different plane of vibration, we cannot easily interact with them. It takes effort for some while others are born with the gift to communicate outside our plane. Not everyone who prays or meditates will find the same answers. Not everyone who believes in God and in other entities become mediums or psychics. The same is true when we think about medicine and outer space. We believe that medicine can heal and save lives, but we don’t necessary become doctors. We believe in the outer space and in extraterrestrial life, but we don’t become astronauts because of our beliefs. In short, each of us becomes who we are meant to be based on the conscious decisions we make throughout our life. Channeling spirits, healing people by use of bare hands, traveling to past lives are all forms of talents. They may not be yours, not because they are not real but because we have different gifts or talents. Understanding this will take us a step closer to the answers of our quest for the spiritual truth. Ultimately, our physical existence is for a purpose. Perhaps the quest for spiritual truth is not an outward search, but rather, an in-depth understanding and acceptance of who we really are. The Meaning of “The Essence of Who We Are”

The word essence invokes many debates. Defined by dictionaries as “the basic nature of a thing: the quality or qualities that make a thing what it is” (Webster), simply put, it means the heart, the crux, the core. When we ask about the essence of who we are, the answer couldn’t be so simple. In fact, science may never come to fully explain it. What we can do is come up with our own definition from our multiple understanding of the universe in general, our own explanation based on the partial truths we know of. Seth used to describe the consciousness as pure essence from which springs all there is in the universe here and beyond. A concept called gestalt of consciousness supports Seth’s claim. In Divine Principles, we define a gestalt as “an organized whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.” From this gestalt are bubbles of consciousness that come together to make new forms. These bubbles form new gestalts and make even more forms and so on and so forth. As each gestalt is eternal and inviolate, the process continues infinitely, without pause or stop. The process is responsible for the universe around us and for the universe within us and our body. Hence, the body will never be the essence of who we are. It is a product, a result of the consciousness. Our essence then is not dependent on the body. Rather, consciousness formed the body, and the body’s functions are achieved through conscious awareness. Since the essence of who we are is independently of our current body, it has to exist before the body was formed. Its existence precedes that of the body, and it will continue to exist after the body expires because of its independent nature. Once it is without a body, perhaps will return to the Great Gestalt or perhaps it will make another form, and the process continues. Where then did this essence come from? Perhaps from the Divine Source, the Higher Self, the I, the Goddess. This part of the equation will largely be dependent on a person’s beliefs, but one thing remains certain, it comes from something or someone greater than all of us, greater than all gestalts combined.
