important: would you advise reading the hunterxhunter manga rather than watching the anime?

i think the 2011 anime is a very good introduction to hxh as a series, but i would still very much recommend people to read the manga

mostly because despite being a close adaptation of the manga, the anime is still a censored adaptation. the anime finally managed to finally get rid of censors later on, but the earlier arcs seem tame compared to the rest of the series when in fact the hxh world was pretty brutal from the get-go

also, the anime had chosen to shuffle small but very important scenes (most likely because the staff were being cautious on if the anime was ever going to reach as far as it did). while it doesn’t really cause that big of an impact to the plot, i personally found that it affected the character’s situations and their reactions when shit had hit the fan in the chimera ant arc

and finally, i think people should read the manga because hxh is an ongoing series while the anime will most likely be ending soon due to lack of material to work with. there is a setup for a new arc in the manga, yes, but it’s in its early/developing stages and the anime has the perfect opportunity to end the series in a way that still fits. i’d be surprised if the anime still continues on after the election arc

also, i generally prefer manga over anime because manga gives me the ability to set my own pace and hear the fitting voices and tones in my head. i rarely find an anime better than its source material, even when i do like the anime
