Just a drabble about a thing Katsurou did

As they rode back to Fujioka, Komatsu found himself riding alongside Katsurou, curiosity egging him on to finally speak up on something.

“Yagyū-san, what was that thing you said to Ryutsume-san? In the Khan’s camp?”

Katsurou chuckled and shook his head. “I told him his lord missed him.”

“But... why? What’s the point of that?”

The large man eyed him and smiled, his eyes sweeping across the party and falling on Tatsuo and Hajime, talking quietly as they rode and seeming to be in a better mood than they had when riding to the Khan’s camp. “As a retainer, you should perhaps like your charge. As a good retainer, you love them. I saw in Ryutsume-san the same we all easily see in Akiyama-san.”

Komatsu raised an eyebrow and looked over to the two retainers and the realization slowly dawned on him.

“Oh. Well, good point. What about you? Do you have anyone you love?”

Katsurou’s jaw clenched and he sighed, staring ahead. “Of course. My charge.”

“Well... alright.” Komatsu watched as Katsurou quietly shuffled in his saddle and hurried ahead to the front of the party.
