People mistakenly interchange these terms all the time. "Simple" refers to how basic something is. "Easy" refers to the effort needed. Easy = ease of effort. Confusion occurs when there's no distinction between them. They aren't the same but CAN and often DO occur together. They also frequently do NOT occur together. Guess how we automatically view them? Definitions aside, they both have their place in your perspective. Some things should be treated as both or either. Low-level tasks should be easy/routine. Some things should stay simple. Now take it a step further! Not all low-level tasks are easy but some are--work smarter, not harder. Not all difficult tasks are simple but some are--don't overcomplicate. I've been thinking about what I want my life to stand for. The kind of discernible thing where people can easily tell what I'm about when they look at me. What do I wish that to be? Better yet, what do any of us wish it to be? Seems like most don't even stop to think about it. Well, I heard a saying recently: "If you're just out here grinding for no reason, something will be able to make you quit, but if you have a reason for what you're doing and you know it, nothing will be able to stop you." @vicblends So it made me begin again to question my ultimate "why." It's sometimes easy to get lost in the monotony of life or the flow of your routines. Have you designed what you're doing to fill your cup? Also seems most of the time dreamers have the notion that once they "make it" (undefined, arbitrary fantasized level of success), they'll be fulfilled. I find it pretty easy to fall into the pattern when my baseline is aiming to be better. I think this way often, but have recently been feeling extra grateful. The recent trend of gratitude mindset has given me pattern interrupt enough to view my current patterns from this perspective and I have discerned a few things: 💎Lay the bricks now for your house later. Build the habits of character and behavior NOW you want for the future vision of yourself. 💎Life is brutal lots of times so you need many little things to fill your cup or a big reason to never give up. 💎Don't go through life passively. If you do, you'll wake up one day and wonder what happened to your edge and where all the time went. 💎You can change directions whenever. You have the power to choose something different if you don't like where you are currently. Here in 🇺🇲, today is President's Day. Make the choice to summon the courage to go for it. All the barriers in your way will fall aside when you make the intentional choice to have the courage. Most of us know what is needed to overcome our fears. It's that we are too afraid of the unknown dangers. And rightfully so. It's a good way to survive. But this life we live is pretty safe already. We don't need more survival. We need more people to thrive! And so, choose to be courageous. Doubt and fear will have no choice but to move out of the way. Go ahead first toward the thing you fear most. You'll find that 97.8% of the time it isn't so bad. It's mostly in your head. Everyone can wear a disguise long enough to paint the picture of themselves they want to display. The real issue becomes discerning between that you and the real you when you do it too much. And how about when you take it off? Who are you then? I teach kids martial arts which comes with inherent qualities of integrity they must learn to progress. Part of the job is practicing integrity myself. After all, how could I request the behavior if I don't even practice what I preach? The lesson here is to resolve to do things right from the beginning because it is a manifestation of what is inside you. By definition, that means all the time. No one is perfect but everyone knows when they are making a good decision or not. It is always a choice. This is as much a learned skill as it is an inherent one. Integrity is the act of being unwaveringly strong in your resolve, especially morally. Another way to put it is this: doing the right thing when no one is watching. Most people's inner voices lead them to falter when they are alone. "An extra candy won't hurt" "It's not my problem" "Another episode won't kill me" "No one will know if I _______" "No one else is stopping to help that person" The list goes on. It's all good if no one sees you, right? No harm, no foul. WRONG. You ALWAYS see you, and trust is built on repeated acts. Every action you take is a vote for the person you want to become. It's infinitely easier to be disciplined when people are watching you. But who are you when no one is looking but yourself? You have to earn your own trust too. Every single person has unique gifts that they bring to the world. Instead of comparing yourself to others which society undeniably encourages, compare yourself to you. Compare yourself today to yourself yesterday to yourself tomorrow, to yourself 3 years ago, 5 years ago, 5 years from now, even 10 years from now! The only person we are really in competition with is ourselves. The only person you need to chase the person you want to be in the future. Not some wack-ass societal standard that doesn't mean anything. We get so caught up in idolizing the folks who have accrued attention and resources, never realizing that if we truly were to step into their shoes we would ALSO receive ALL of their problems and issues! Thus, is synonymously the reason we should disregard the pursuit of such frivolous societal standards and a blessing that we have the privilege to design our own lives to fit with our own unique strengths and weaknesses. It's truly beautiful. The true humor is that most people strive for these things that don't matter that they become blind to these things that we think others care about. Truly ironic! So celebrate instead of scorn the parts of you that are different. You have your own gifts. Don't compare. We want things that make us FEEL but most often the greatest gains are found in our day-to-day habits and are, therefore, unseen without deliberate reflection.
