Legitimately want to excommunicate myself from the online LGBT community, particularly white LGBT community cuz y’all r ignorant as hell it’s infuriating.

Just perpetuating so many of the stereotypes designed and manufactured by cishets over the past century to vilify us. How the hell can you not see what you’re doing when u act so fucking puritanical about queerness.

If you’re uncomfortable with kink personally, don’t engage. It’s that fucking simple. Nobody is forcing their particular expression of queerness onto you. And people who are openly queer and openly sexual and kinky are /not/ gross or undeserving of being a part of the LGBT community just because ~you personally~ take issue with it. That is something YOU have to sort out for YOURSELF, not project it onto other queer people and act like you have any right to force them to act in a way that is acceptable to you personally.

What we are NOT gonna do is police people’s actions. Kill the cop in your head that thinks that open, subversive, kinky queerness is gross or doesn’t deserve to be a part of the community. You’re doing homophobes’ work for them. Respectability politics and assimilationists can go fucking choke on their own desire to make the entire community look and act like Pete Buttigieg.

Part of queerness is being openly queer, openly subversive. Openly saying “fuck you” to what cishets deem is a worthy way of living. If you personally want to live a life that parallels that which was created by cishets, go for it. I’m not stopping you. But you do NOT get to tell queer people who don’t want to fucking live that kind of life that they are wrong or gross for not wanting to. For wearing leather, for being kinky, for being openly sexual, for whatever the fuck else they do that you take issue with for reasons rooted in homophobia.

It’s appalling how much we seem to be regressing to assimilation arguments of the 1950’s and 60’s that were disrupted by stonewall and queer liberation movements being led by marginalized queers, not just cis white ones, for the first time ever. These people were fighting for their rights to be queer in ways that subverted expectations put in place by white assimilationists. Impoverished queers, trans queers, homeless queers, queers of color, fat queers, all had to fight against cis white queers in order to earn their right to life and survival in this world.

And cis white queers are repeating the cycle yet again. (Trans white queers are doing it too, but not necessarily as much as cis white queers are) They are being oppressive. They are doing exactly what they have always done. Queerness is not a monolith. Every single person within the community has a right to express themselves however they want, regardless of how much it makes u squirm or activates your internalized homophobia. We do not have to fit in to deserve respect.

We do not have to be what you want us to be. I am trans, I am poor, I am fat, I am butch, I am a sexual being who will be gay and loud and proud about it however the fuck I want to be.

And I will not let anyone take away the efforts of my elders and ancestors just because they feel a little bit uncomfortable about how I exist.

Fuck. You.

La muerte es habitual en Buenaventura  (Colombia) pero también las formas de resistencia y dignidad de sus habitantes. Este corto documental cuenta la historia de “Los Matachines de Buenaventura”, una tradición religiosa entre cantos, máscaras y música que se ha convertido en un espacio de supervivencia en medio del duelo y el miedo.
