TOUR DIARY: 40 BTS Photos of Lawrence Being the Grooviest Family & Friends Band
Tumblr media
Photo: Ray Lego
Lawrence is very much a friend and family affair. Led by siblings Clyde and Gracie Lawrence, the eight-piece soul outfit is comprised of the sibling’s childhood and college friends. Perhaps it’s that tight-knit foundation that beings to explain the band’s prowess for delivering soul-pop gems. Whatever may be the underlying factor for the band’s timeless sound, one thing is clear. Lawrence has the undeniable potential to be a lasting band that does not bow to any specific time period’s genre norms or constrictions.
Then there’s Lawrence’s live show, which Is nothing short of electric. It’s a performance in every sense of the word. Their most recent tour, “The New Stuff Tour,” saw them playing sold-out shows across North America in anticipation of their long-awaited forthcoming album, Living Room due out September 14. So, to satiate yourself until Living Room finally graces our ears, enjoy this lovely behind-the-scenes look into Lawrence’s most recent tour.

We started The New Stuff Tour in D.C. at Union Hall with a sold out show!

First soundcheck of the tour, donning our traditional pre-show sweatpants and sweatshorts.

Gracie captured the moment she met one of our openers, Victory, who blew us all away in all of her performances!

Hanging in the green room & signing The New Stuff Tour posters before our first meet & greet!
Tumblr media
Aww yeaaaah, thanks, D.C.!
Tumblr media
Post-D.C. show en route to NYC (our hometown), Clyde and Gracie stopped for a classy gas station meal/bathroom break/photo op.

Clyde tries out his new face pillow for sleeping in the van on our overnight drive back to NYC.

Lounging in the green room at Brooklyn Steel.  When in a green room in an NYC venue, get that place loaded up with bagels.

Our friend and merch master on The New Stuff Tour, Matt Baluyot, set up our merch table at Brooklyn Steel.

Aaaand the show begins! Thanks, Brooklyn Steel, for being our biggest headline show yet. During the encore, we ran offstage and our manager told us the show had sold out. There’s a 100% chance that all of our moms in the audience cried.
Tumblr media
The morning after Brooklyn Steel, we had to get up super early to make it to our show in Boston. Despite our excitement for the show later, none of us could move out of utter exhaustion.
Tumblr media
After we mustered the strength to get back on the road again we devoured bacon egg and cheeses from our favorite deli in Long Island, Woodbury Country Deli.

Thanks, Boston for the most unreal energy. We jammed, hugged, crowd surfed and in the end, took a dope picture of the enthusiastic, sold-out crowd.
Tumblr media
Arriving in Philly the next morning, we wandered the streets before hitting the venue, The Foundry.
Tumblr media
Sumner, who is usually the healthiest among us, hit a tour low when he was struck with some acute food poisoning. That night, the wonderful Philly crowd was kind of enough to scream, “Feel better, Sumner!” from on stage, which he was awoken by/pleasantly surprised to hear from the green room.

Thanks, Philly for the amazing night! Look at these boys, Sam, Peter, and Marc shredding it up from the show.
Tumblr media
We arrived in LA for the west coast leg of the tour the only way we know how, literally going straight from LAX airport to In N’ Out.
Tumblr media
A day off means some hardcore tennis among a bunch of band members who are bad at tennis.
Tumblr media
On the way to the LA venue, Teragram Ballroom! Our west coast rental van had a TV in it, and Clyde, Marc and Jonny spent the whole day playing Madden. Gracie: “I don’t understand why any of you care about this.”
Tumblr media
A view of the stage from the audience at Teragram Ballroom! Thanks, LA!

Arriving in San Francisco the next morning…

Pre-show, Marc does soundcheck-yoga.

Watching our friends on the Brown Ultimate Frisbee team crush it at nationals backstage at The Independent.
Tumblr media
Thank you, San Fran for another sold out show! We had the best time.
Tumblr media
Instead of sleeping post-SF-show, we stayed up and partied in San Fran until we had to make it to the airport at 4am to head to Chicago for our show the next day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes okay, we did know ahead of time that Michael Blume, our fantastic opener, was on our overnight flight, but we didn’t know he was in the SAME ROW as us! The next night we took a final tour pic together before our last show in Chicago.

Thank you, thank you, Chicago, for helping us end the tour right with a sold-out show at Lincoln Hall.

After The New Stuff Tour was over, we made one last stop - Summer Camp Music Festival! The best, most fun, sweaty, celebratory way to end our trip before heading back home to NYC.
