if you ever wanna drive yourself insane, just think about the fact that ted and rebecca don’t actually know that they are soulmates, platonic or otherwise.

they don’t know about september 13th. they don’t know about divorce papers and anniversaries. they don’t know about matchbooks and army men, or psychics and bullies, or red strings, or sorry about that’s, or panicked hands on hearts, or why the biscuits taste like home.

and i know that if they had had one conversation about any of this, those two would have felt like they were struck by fucking lightning.
