The air was cool, the slight breeze gently brushing across your arms as you sat on the deck. You tried to catch your breath, listening to the rustling of the leaves in your backyard. This was your safe space, the backyard of your house, far enough from the city so you could see stars, but close enough to the city so that you didn’t feel detached from civilization.
This was your safe space when you felt unsafe inside.
Your phone was next to you, it had buzzed a few times, but you were afraid that if you stopped holding your legs to your chest, you would lose control.
Slowly, the sliding door behind you squealed on its track.
“Oh, honey,” Spencer whispered, coming around the couch you were sitting on and taking a seat next to you. It wasn’t until you flinched that he knew everything that was going on.
For just a moment, Spencer got up and disappeared into the house before coming back, closing the screen door instead of the glass slider this time. Slowly, he sat down next to you, his movements weren’t hesitant, they were tender.
Gently, Spencer put his arm around you, placing one hand on your waist as if he were testing the waters. In response, you leaned into him, resting your head on his shoulder, but not releasing your legs from the hold you had on them. “You’re shaking,” he observed quietly, evaluating the situation before holding out your pen.
Medical marijuana was the steepest learning curve you had ever experienced. Your therapist tried traditional medicine, but nothing helped you through your anxiety, everything you tried just numbed you to it. You had never heard of using marijuana for anxiety, only for things like epilepsy and to help people through chemotherapy, never for a psychological disorder.
Luckily, Spencer had heard of it and the two of you spent days discussing it before you finally decided to give it a shot. You thought if nothing else worked, you might as well try.
You still tried to use it sparingly, but it really did help. Not only did the medicine help calm you down, but the use of the pen forced you to control your breathing. Just like now, when you took the pen from Spencer and breathed in, waiting until you could feel it in the back of your throat before blowing the vapors back out. Finally realizing how much you had been shaking.
Gingerly, Spencer moved your arms from around your knees to maneuver your body, so you were lying with your head on his chest.
Closing your eyes, you fiddled with the pen in your hand and focused on the beating of Spencer’s heart. His arms were wrapped around you, holding you tightly to his body. It was then that you realized he had been talking to you, speaking on and on about work, never anything graphic about cases, but about the prank that Morgan played on Emily or about a story JJ told him about Henry.
Just the little things, because not everything is a big thing. “Do you think I’ll ever be the same again?” You asked him quietly.
Spencer took a deep breath, “No, but I don’t want you to be. I want you to be changed, and I don’t want you to pretend like you’re not.”
Sighing, you lifted your head, so you were looking at Spencer. He’s growing out his hair again, soft and unruly.
“My head just feels so busy all of the time,” you whispered, “and sometimes I can pinpoint the problem, but sometimes I get pulled under just by the weight of the world.” Lying your head back down on his shoulder, you sighed and melted into him.
He started gently stroking your hair, smoothing it down the back of your head, “You don’t have to carry the weight of the world all alone, you know. I can share some of that weight with you if it ever comes to be too much.”
But how could you ask that of him when his job already weighed him down so much?
“It’s never too much for me, not when it comes to you,” he murmured into your hair before pressing a gentle kiss to the crown of your head.
You smiled at the fact that he seemed to always know what you were thinking before resting a hand on his chest, tracing hearts over his work clothes. “You and me against the world, Spencer Reid?”
Spencer hummed in response, “You and me against the world, my love.”
It wasn’t instant, you didn’t just feel better because you medicated or because Spencer said the right things, you felt better because you gave yourself the time to feel better.
“You feel better,” Spencer said matter of factly. He wasn’t asking, he was stating it. “Being held can actually activate the parasympathetic nervous system which counteracts the fight-or-flight response and promotes relaxation. There have also been studies that show that hugging can contribute to the regulation of your heart rate and blood pressure. So, by holding you close to me, I can tell that your heart isn’t racing anymore.”
You turned your head and grinned into his neck, “I’m glad you’re home, Spence.”
“I am too, love,” he answered, continuing to rub gentle circles on your back.
Slowly, you sat up and looked down at him, “You look tired, let’s go to sleep.” You got up and offered him your hand, “Tomorrow will be a new day.”

The Biden administration’s Department of Health and Human Services is recommending that the Drug Enforcement Administration significantly loosen federal restrictions on marijuana but stopped short of advising that it should be entirely removed from the Controlled Substances Act.
The health agency wants the drug moved from Schedule I to Schedule III under the CSA, potentially the biggest change in federal drug policy in decades.
HHS Assistant Secretary of Health Rachel Levine wrote in a Tuesday letter to the DEA, first reported by Bloomberg News, that the recommendation was based on a review conducted by the Food and Drug Administration.
The DEA confirmed to POLITICO that it received the letter.
“As part of this process, HHS conducted a scientific and medical evaluation for consideration by DEA. DEA has the final authority to schedule or reschedule a drug under the Controlled Substances Act,” a spokesperson for the agency said in a statement. “DEA will now initiate its review.”
The HHS letter is part of the official review process initiated by President Joe Biden last October: The FDA conducts the review, which is then sent to the National Institute on Drug Abuse and HHS, after which HHS transmits a letter of recommendation to the DEA. The DEA is not required to follow HHS’s recommendation.
The White House on Wednesday refused to comment on the review process.
“The administration process is an independent process led by HHS, led by the Department of Justice, and guided by evidence,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters. “We’re just not going to comment on that.”
Cannabis is currently a Schedule I substance on the CSA, which means it is deemed to have a high likelihood of abuse and no medical uses. Heroin and LSD are also Schedule I drugs. Schedule III drugs are categorized as having “moderate to low potential for physical and psychological dependence.” The category includes ketamine and testosterone.
The HHS recommendation is the result of a nearly yearlong federal review of all available marijuana research. Biden’s executive action — which also included federal pardons for low-level marijuana convictions — was seen by many as a political move taken ahead of the midterm elections to incentivize turnout among younger and more progressive voters.
At the time, advocates and some lawmakers urged Biden to take clear steps to remove cannabis completely from the CSA — versus rescheduling it. Legalization advocates on Wednesday reiterated that rescheduling would not solve many of the problem they’ve been asking the Biden administration to correct.
“Rescheduling cannabis from 1 to 3 does not end criminalization, it just rebrands it. People will still be subject to criminal penalties for mere possession, regardless of their legal status in a state-level medical program,” cannabis advocate Justin Strekal told POLITICO on Wednesday.
FEDERAL-STATE CONFLICT
Federal law has failed to keep up with massive changes over the last decade in state cannabis policies. 23 states now allow anyone at least 21 years old to legally posses the drug, while 38 states have established medical marijuana programs.
But because cannabis businesses are not federally legal, they are subject to a federal tax code that prohibits narcotics traffickers from taking typical tax exemptions for business expenses like salaries and benefits. That code does not apply to Schedule III, so if the DEA approved HHS’ recommendation, cannabis businesses around the country would immediately be paying much less in federal taxes.
That would provide a big boost to the financially struggling industry.
“It’s giant,” said Charlie Bachtell, CEO of Cresco Labs, one of the country’s largest cannabis companies, in an interview. “I think you would see a healthier cannabis industry a year from now.”
Rescheduling could also mean legislative changes on Capitol Hill, where a bill to make it easier for banks to offer financial services to the cannabis industry — backed by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Sens. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) and Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) — has been slowly plodding toward the finish line.
Changing marijuana’s federal classification would almost certainly make it easier for cannabis businesses to access banking services and raise cash even without any legislative changes.
“I don’t see a need for the SAFE Banking Act if this in fact becomes the official position,” said Jonathan Havens, a cannabis attorney at Saul Ewing who previously worked for the FDA. “I’m not saying that all banks will want to jump into this space, but the need for safe harbors I don’t think exists like it does today.”
Schumer on Wednesday urged the DEA to “quickly follow through on this important step” but added he is “continuing to work in Congress to pass important marijuana legislation and criminal justice reform.”
The shift in federal cannabis policy would also make it easier to conduct research on the health effects of cannabis consumption and for pharmaceutical companies to bring cannabis-based drugs to market. Researchers have long chafed at restrictions that only allow them to procure cannabis from a single farm at the University of Mississippi that bears little resemblance to the high-potency products many consumers are purchasing in state-legal markets.
But if the FDA decides to fully enforce regulations on the cannabis industry as it does all other Schedule III drugs, that could mean major changes for state markets.
“The question that I have is whether or not the current industry will eventually be replaced by the pharmaceutical industry,” said Rachel Gillette, head of the cannabis practice at Holland & Hart, noting that ketamine and anabolic steroids are also Schedule III drugs. “I can’t go down to the corner store and buy those things.”
Some state regulators, however, don’t think that much will change.
“This adjusts the type of security and type of bureaucracy that exists around federal research into the substance [and] it would make it easier for companies to bring cannabis based pharmaceuticals into market,” said John Hudak, Director of Maine’s Office of Cannabis Policy, in an interview. “But in terms of administration of a state program, it has very little impact.”
MIXED RESPONSE
The cannabis industry on Wednesday was ebullient, while drug legalization advocates and some lawmakers had a more tepid — or downright condemnatory — response to the news.
“We believe that rescheduling to Schedule III will mark the most significant federal cannabis reform in modern history,” said Edward Conklin, executive director of the US Cannabis Council, an advocacy and trade group, in a statement. “President Biden is effectively declaring an end to Nixon’s failed war on cannabis and placing the nation on a trajectory to end prohibition.”
While the industry would see immediate financial benefits from a loosening of federal restrictions, however, criminal penalties on cannabis would not change dramatically. That prompted some advocates to criticize the HHS recommendation.
“This shift would fall woefully short of the promises made by President Biden during his 2020 presidential election campaign, especially promises made to Black and Brown communities,” said Cat Packer, director of drug markets and regulation at the Drug Policy Alliance, which advocates legalizing all drugs.
Anti-legalization advocates, meanwhile, blasted the move as potentially detrimental to public health.
“The addiction profiteers who have been exposed for lying about marijuana’s physical, mental and economic impacts, are desperately looking for legitimacy in the wake of mounting evidence their products are harming millions of Americans,” said Kevin Sabet, president of Smart Approaches to Marijuana, in a statement. “It is regrettable that the Department of Health and Human Services move now appears to be a nod to those monied interests.”

So many of you may have heard the Andrew Tate lung cancer rumor?
The lung cancer appears to be fake. (while I don’t speak Romanian I have read a metric fucking shitton of pathology reports, and this looks like the real deal - if anybody out there does speak Romanian and knows different about the report or the reputability news outlet, or if you have image-fu and think this is a shop job, feel free to chime in. looks like the right letterhead and facility though.)
Tumblr media
What this report says, if accurate, is that they did a fine needle aspirate of a nodule in his lung (which would have been a clinically appropriate way to evaluate his weight loss and claims from his manager that he had a “lesion” that was being tracked by his doctor in Dubai), and what the Romanian hospital found was that while there is indeed something in his lung, it is due to a “reactive process” and is benign. This is a very well known phenomenon in smokers of all kind (tobacco is super full of irritants, but marijuana can also have contaminants or mold/fungal spores that can piss off lung tissue).
Something else interesting - anabolic steroids and supplemental testosterone have a possible link to pulmonary eosinophilia, which does what? can ALSO make your lungs unhappy.
Anyway, Andrew Tate’s manager undoubtedly knew about the nodules that they were probably treating with “watch, wait and fuck’s sake stop smoking” prior to his arrest, and just trying to get his guy back to Dubai where he can then run away. And if Romania didn’t have a healthcare system, it might have worked!
Fear not, the continuing Fuck Around and Find Out energy for this guy remains epic.
Tumblr media
We’ll just ignore for the moment the part where Mr. Pickup Shartist appears to believe he has to explain that being in jail is in fact like being confined in a small space one cannot leave at any time to his followers. The line about the ghost, that’s him trying to look profound and poetic or some shit, right?
Tumblr media
Or...maybe not.
Is it option B, steroid withdrawal? Would also explain his alleged 10 kg weight loss (muscle mass loss and also anorexia), hair loss, insomnia, low mood and occasionally, psychotic symptoms!
Or option C, he’s realized that cancer is an objectively provable claim, while mental illness is a lot harder to prove someone is faking rather than actually delusional, and has decided to go that route to try and get out via fraudulent medical care.
However, if the Romanian prison system isn’t a lot more sympathetic than say, the US prison system, he could be waiting a LONG fucking time for someone to care about his mental health in there. A very, very long fucking time.
If I was a better person I would probably not be entertained by this. but it’s honestly so rare to see an even D-list “celebrity” white dude actually experience consequences, I just can’t help myself.

Initial evaluation – The evaluation of patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection involves assessing the extent of liver disease, assessing other viral and host factors (including viral genotype, liver fibrosis stage, history of prior antiviral treatment, renal function, and medication use) that inform optimal antiviral selection, and identifying comorbidities associated with HCV infection (including extrahepatic manifestations of HCV infection as well as human immunodeficiency virus [HIV] and hepatitis B virus [HBV] infection).
Counseling on transmission risk and dietary/behavioral modifications – HCV-infected patients should be counseled on measures to decrease the risk of transmission and correcting factors associated with accelerated liver disease, including alcohol use, obesity and insulin resistance, and marijuana use. Substance use treatment is also an important element of care in patients who have ongoing illicit drug use.
Individuals with HCV infection should be counseled to:
Avoid sharing toothbrushes and dental or shaving equipment Cover any bleeding wound to prevent others from coming into contact with their blood Not donate blood Discuss their HCV status prior to donation of body organs, other tissues, or semen
In general, individuals with HCV infection should be counseled that the risk of sexual transmission is low and that HCV infection itself is not a reason for barrier protection.
However, individuals with HCV infection who have HIV co-infection, multiple sexual partners, or sexually transmitted infections should be encouraged to use barrier precautions to prevent sexual transmission.
Individuals with HCV infection who use illicit drugs should be counseled to:
Get treated for substance use disorder
Those who inject drugs should be counseled to:
Avoid reusing or sharing syringes, needles, water, cotton, and other drug preparation equipment Use new sterile syringes and filters and disinfected cookers Clean the injection site with a new alcohol swab Dispose safely of syringes and needles after one use in a safe, puncture-proof container
Additional management issues for advanced fibrosis – Additional management is warranted for patients who are found to have advanced fibrosis or cirrhosis, including dose modification or avoidance of certain medications, twice yearly ultrasonography for hepatocellular carcinoma screening, and upper endoscopy screening for esophageal varices.
