With 24/7 MBS, Physician can get reimbursed on time and continue providing quality care to their patients
Most important thing healthcare organization need to do is to get proactive about billing procedures. By focusing on billing, they can get reimbursed on time and continue providing quality care to their patients. There are certain challenges that every small or big healthcare organization has to face. However, by taking a structured approach, providers can optimize revenue and grow their business. Industry challenges can make it difficult for any practice to get paid.
Tumblr media
Here are top five proven billing tactics that can help generate more revenue:
1.      It is very important to have a clear and strong collections process. This will help in ensuring that patients are properly and thoroughly informed of their financial responsibilities. From verifying patient information regularly and having clear payments terms to verifying eligibility and collecting due balances, there are several aspects of a good collections process.
2.     Second tactic is to manage claims in the right manner. As per industry reports, around 80% of medical claims consist of errors. Many claims get rejected as payers have become stricter about medical coding and billing practices. So make sure your billers are following the right cycle of claims submission, error correction, and resubmission and so on.
3.     Third tactic to boost your practice revenue is to ensure that there are no coding errors. Before submission of claims, codes should be double-checked. This will help prevent costly denials caused due to coding errors.
4.     It is very important that your practice is handling rejected or denied claims in a timely manner. You need to have experts who will not only correct and resubmit rejected claims but also appeal denied claims before resubmission. Since resubmission is a costly and time consuming process, it is best to prevent it by improving billing practices.
5.     Last but not the least, it helps to track your practice performance and look for areas that need improvement. The practice needs to change along with the healthcare landscape changes. This is needed for maximizing revenue and improving efficiency. So keep looking for ways to improve billing by staying abreast of industry changes in billing and coding rules.
A reliable billing company works with a team of well trained and experienced billers and coders who are experienced in getting their clients paid on time. Outsourcing is also a good way to improving billing and boost revenue for your practice.

Some of the key features that can be expected in the ICD-11
There is an updated version of the coding system waiting on the horizon to be implemented. While some practices are still getting accustomed to ICD-10, getting a grip on new processes and waiting for payments to come rolling in.
The ideas of having a new set of codes have elicited some groans already. This is because the US healthcare industry has had a long and very complex tradition to ICD-10. But the good news is that ICD-11 promises to be less complex. It has been designed to be EHR-friendly which will prove beneficial for the Medical Billing Services Providers. It will provide significant improvements on the previous versions and will be presented in a user-friendly format.

In order to give providers enough time to prepare, WHO (World Health Organisation) released the advance preview of ICD-11. ICD-11 will be presented at the World Health Assembly for adoption by Member States. This new code set will come into effect on 1st January 2022. So practices have sufficient time to prepare for the new version and to train health professionals.
Here are some of the key features that can be expected in the new code set:
•    It will be fully electronic which will allow easy integration with electronic data sources.
•    As the disease classification system has been updated, it will remain consistent with the current medicine and science.
•    Since external stakeholders have also provided inputs and recommendations, the development process for ICD-11 has been very collaborative.
•    Compared to ICD-10 that has 14,400 codes, the new edition will have 55,000 codes for diseases, injuries and causes of death.
•    ICD-11 will capture data in a better manner related to healthcare safety. It will help in identifying and reducing unwanted events that can harm health.
•    It will have new chapters, including chapters on sexual health and traditional medicine.
•    Gaming disorder has also been added to the section on addictive disorders in ICD-11.
It has become necessary for Medical Billing Services Providers to start exposing their coders and clinical documentation experts to some of the ICD-11 concepts. This will help them in establishing a comfort level with the new version and enable them to implement the coding set effectively. There are several training videos and ICD-11 beta versions also available online to help practices prepare for the transition in a better manner.

Medical Billing Trends to Continue in 2020
Are you a healthcare provider wondering what trends you should expect in 2020? As far as medical billing is concerned, here are a few trends that you can expect in the coming year:
•  Outsourcing of RCM services will continue growing in 2020. From freeing-up time and resources to getting paid on time and cutting costs, providers are realizing the benefits of letting a trusted vendor handle their revenue needs.
•  In 2020, providers will look for vendors who are offering complete software interoperability. Even though billing software is a part of any medical practice, there are chances providers can run into problems or inefficiencies if their software is not interoperable or not fully integrated with other practice technologies.
•  Cloud-based medical billing software will become popular in 2020. This software is simple to use and offers electronic storage, maintenance as well as easy access to data on the internet. However, providers will have to make sure that it is being sourced from a quality technology partner to ensure safety.

Growth in consolidation
It is being expected that the medical billing outsourcing market will reach $16.9 billion by 2021. In the coming year, consolidation into larger brands will also grow as physician’s practices will consolidate into physician groups, health systems and hospitals. They will need a different kind of billing service compared to the traditional physician practices.
 Changes to physician payment
A final rule was issued by the CMS to update the MPFS and QPP for 2020, including policies for shifting QPP’s MIPS to a new framework along with updating evaluation and management (E/M) visit code definitions.
CMS has finalized its revised approach for billing for E/M visit codes that are codes used by most physicians for billing routine visits. In CY 2021, the five-tier system for established patients will be kept whereas the CMS will move to a four-tier coding system for new patients.
  CPT code changes
The AMA (American Medical Association) has updated 2020 CPT code set with 394 code changes, including 71 deletions, 248 new codes and 75 revisions. These code changes all come into effect on 1st January and it will be necessary for coders to get a good understanding of code changes for obtaining maximum reimbursement.
To overcome challenges and changes in the healthcare industry, providers will need a team of expert staff who will stay updated and work dedicatedly.
