okay this is @saintvivec’s gift! merry christmas friend you’ve shown so much growth and compassion this year and I am so, so proud of you and how hard you’re working to improve yourself, as well as just how much passion you’ve invested in rp and your writing

you asked for an opinion piece on our ocs so I hope this delivers!

I was going to try to start this off with idk, something poetic or themes but all that came to mind is the blatant truth so like. hey eps! did you know your ocs are amazing? because they 100% are

I’ve mentioned this to you before but I often struggle with making a solid concept for an oc or defining them, and I really admire how you often have such an intuitive grasp of what and who you want to make, usually with a theme or relationships or a backstory attached. I know you’ve pared down your skyrim ocs recently but even with the revamped verse it’s still incredible to look at, and I always look forward to seeing how you’ll have everyone intertwine and interact with each other!

you have this very down to earth approach to all of them, and for all that they’re all spooky and skilled and badass, you still are fully ready to make fun of them or put them in difficult and challenging situations – and on the other hand, you have concepts that would be one-note really easily, like rythe or arturo, but you still make them compelling and sympathetic and nuanced in their own right. you could just endlessly spin off stuff like the overwatch au or chronicle the eternal betrayal of jaree-ra and I’d still be invested because you make every character likeable in some way, and that’s a really rare talent to have

I think part of it is how wholeheartedly you go into lore and backstories, how much indepth knowledge you pour into each concept, so there’s just so much effort involved regardless of who it is, which only makes it even easier for me to imagine situations or toss my own ocs your way – they immediately have someone engaging and distinctive to bounce off of, and I feel we both always gain something from those encounters or even just brainstorming stuff like the inevitable swtor/skyrim crossovers! I always feel I get both a better grasp on my characters and yours when we discuss them together.

tbh it wasn’t difficult to envision that yskra and nejuna fic p much solely because of how vividly you set up nejuna’s concept from the start, and it’s the same for rkorya and rolayn, or shenrihn and vantys, or most surprisingly shenrihn and rolayn. we joke a lot about him being a gremlin but they manage to have so much respect and understanding for each other while being virtual opposites in so many ways, and it’s a weird? friendship? that I’m eternally surprised and v excited about, and I hope we’ll get many more chances to expand on them!

I also have to mention our possible enmities – vit and vantys, chotal and rolayn, what I assume is going to be dralcea and rkorya battling it out to determine who’s more badass – because you’re also one of the people I trust the most with conflict and fights and pitting characters against each other, because you always approach it in such a constructive way? it’s never just about determining who is the Coolest but about getting some advancement or growth or change on both sides in some way, and I always really value that

so basically, it’s been an honour to see your ocs, to hear you talk about and develop them, let alone to also get to interact with them and share the same universe! I love all of them dearly and I can only hope we reach inevitable oc critical mass and have a million intertwining dynamics bc I am So Here for that
