imagine photographer pierre putting together a set of his favorite pictures from the year and suddenly realizing that they're all of charles/related to charles. "uh oh, maybe i AM in love with my best friend" realization ensues

Oh, this made my brain go zoom.

The first year he had put together the series, it had been for his maman. She is the one who bought him that camera and he wanted to give her something physical to see that Pierre was indeed serious about this very serious investment.

In uni, it became a very logical way for him to look at his growth over the last year - to see what he had dabbled in and what was successful, what was not. It was a way to encourage him to continue to learn and grow and do better.

But, once he started working with Charles, it was really just for himself. Sure, he posted the series on his social media's and the engagement was off the charts for him, but he was sometimes moving so fast - sometimes it felt like he never put his camera down.

It was GP to GP, but in between there were sponsor shoots and private plane rides and intimate moments that Pierre wanted to keep somewhere because someday Charles would have books and documentaries and monuments dedicated to him, and that is what Pierre was here for - to document his life and these moments.

And he liked to look through them and be out of the camera for a bit.

This year he leaves it until the last minute, sorting photos from his childhood bedroom in the middle of the night, queueing them up so he can post them tomorrow.

But, the only thing he can do is stare at the screen and understand that this goes beyond photographing Charles.

The last photo before his family photos start is of Charles, curled up on his side, asleep.

Pierre had taken it on the couch - the night he slept over at Charles' place in Monaco. The light from the television has bathed him in a blue light and Pierre had remembered thinking how...beautiful he looked and so he had pulled his camera out, taken the photo before he had shaken him awake to go to bed.

Pierre looks at the way he framed the shot - how Charles' hand is in the corner of the shot and...

He takes these photos of Charles - photos of him sleeping and eating and driving and training and Pierre may have fallen in love with photography when he was a boy, but it was also the best way he knew how to show his love and...he should have seen it sooner.

He wasn't just documenting Charles' life, he was also showing his love to him the best way he knew how.

A former Presbyterian minister and Boy Scout leader convicted for the possession of child sexual abuse materials was a member of an online community lauded by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) in the organization’s most recent Standards of Care.

Jack Wayne Rogers, who is currently incarcerated at the Federal Corrections Institute in Miami, first came to the attention of the FBI in 2002 during a pedophile sting known as “Operation Candyman,” named after a Yahoo e-group where child sexual abuse content was being traded. Rogers was initially detained for the possession and distribution of explicit child abuse materials, but was later identified as a suspect in the disappearance of Branson Kayne Perry, a 20 year-old in Skidmore, Missouri, who went missing in April of 2001.

Evidence gathered by law enforcement included Internet chat logs in which Rogers, using the screen names “BuggerButt,” “ohailsatan,” and “extremebodymods,” discussed various methods of torturing and mutilating children and swapped child abuse materials and snuff content with Michael Adam Davidson, a third-year medical student at the University of South Alabama.

On one occasion, Rogers bragged to Davidson in a chat that he had acted on his desires. Rogers boasted of having abducted, raped, tortured, and murdered a blonde-haired young man from Skidmore, Missouri, while describing the mutilation and murder in horrific detail. In April of 2003, Rogers was arrested on child pornography charges and became a suspect in the investigation of Perry’s disappearance.

While Rogers denied having committed the killing, he had been recounting the torture and slaying of an individual who matched Perry’s description at length.

“You can do it willingly by telling it you are going to let it go if it does what you want. Hope springs eternal until you smash it,” Rogers wrote, referring to the victim as “it” in his narrative.

“When it begs me to kill it—it doesn’t always happen—but when it does I know it is broken. Each mind is different and learning that mind is the real game to tearing down barriers. Destroying hopes. Building false ones.”

Rogers went on to say that he made the ordeal “an 18-hour experience” before disposing of the body by first removing the internal organs and sinking the corpse in a river.

He would never be convicted for the crime due to a lack of evidence, and Perry’s disappearance remains unsolved. One item connected Rogers to Perry: a turtle claw necklace that was believed to have belonged to the young man was retrieved from Rogers’ property.

However, during a search of Rogers’ home and devices, investigators uncovered at least 860 images of child pornography that included sexually explicit content involving prepubescent children. Rogers was found to have been sharing, via e-mail attachments, materials “showing male children engaged in sexually explicit content, including photographs of children chained and bound by ropes,” according to court records.

But upon further examination, investigators discovered numerous additional photographs of Rogers “posing with severed male genitals, wearing them on his head, placing them in his mouth and apparently chewing them, placing them in a coffee cup or on a plate, and attaching severed penises together.”

Surgical equipment, items used in bondage and torture, and a manual describing “how one could perform gender nullification” were found by authorities in Rogers’ home, office, and van. Officials also came upon a room Rogers had converted into an area for the practice of BDSM.

Photographs and other evidence led investigators to identify one of Rogers’ surgical ‘patients’ as Michael Abercrombie, a man who claimed to be transgender and used the feminine name Madison.

Rogers admitted to performing the makeshift “gender reassignment surgery” on Abercrombie in a hotel room. The two had met online, and Abercrombie paid $750 for the four-hour procedure wherein Rogers surgically removed his penis, scrotum, and testicles using only local anesthetics.

Rogers claimed to have performed over 100 similar procedures. He then took the severed organs and documented himself consuming them. Court records refer to the surgery as “nullification,” a term applied to the removal of male sex organs for fetishistic purposes among practitioners of BDSM. Abercrombie is referred to with feminine pronouns, with documents describing the removal of “her penis” and “her genitals.”

In addition to a 30-year sentence for child pornography and obscenity charges, Rogers was handed 17 years for first-degree assault and seven years for practicing medicine without a license.

According to Diane Fanning, a writer and researcher in the true crime genre, an employee who worked with Rogers recalled having seen him using office equipment to print copies of stories featuring acts of sadomasochism and mutilation with homosexual themes that he had written under the pseudonyms Jolly Rogers and BuggerButt. She told Fanning that he mailed these stories to prison inmates.

In July 2014, an alleged victim of Rogers came forward to accuse the would-be genital surgeon of sexually abusing him when he was a child, in 2000.

Kristopher Schondelmeyer claimed that the First Presbyterian Church of Fulton, where Rogers had worked with children as a pastor, knew that Rogers had previously been convicted on child pornography charges in 1992, and had put youth at risk “by placing Rogers in direct authority over minor children” and failing to provide supervision.

According to the lawsuit filed by Schondelmeyer, the alleged abuse took place during the Connection 2000 Youth Conference in Maryland, for which Rogers acted as a chaperone for Schondelmeyer and several other teenagers from Fulton.

Notably, Rogers’ digital footprint can be found in the early logs of the Eunuch Archive forum, interacting with academics who have contributed to research published and cited by WPATH, one of the world’s more powerful transgender lobby groups. WPATH has set medical guidelines which includes recommending protocols for the medical “transitioning” of children.

As previously reported by Reduxx, the Eunuch Archive is an online community of men who have a sexual interest in castration. Of the approximately 10,000 stories hosted in the site’s fiction archive, over 3,000 are tagged with the search term “minor.” These erotic stories depict the violent castration of young boys by surgical and chemical means. Many involve sadistic and pedophilic sexual acts, and some incorporate the concept of Nazi doctors experimenting on children.

The Eunuch Archive began in the late 1990s in collaboration with Body Modification E-zine (BME), which was founded by Shannon Larratt. The pornographic fiction stories were initially hosted on the same site. BME operated as a community for those with body modification fetishes and featured extreme sadomasochistic content, including of amputations and genital mutilation.

In the newsgroup alt.eunuchs.questions, members shared castration fantasies, offered services, traded castration photos and videos, sought to connect with young men to “feminize,” asked for advice on chemical castration, and recommended doctors willing to perform surgeries without psychiatric evaluations. 

At least three academics who have been in leading roles within the Eunuch Archive for over twenty years have ties to WPATH. Surveys conducted with members of the Eunuch Archive have been published in The International Journal of Transgenderism, distributed by WPATH, and academics who gathered the anonymous responses regarding forum members’ sexual motivations for genital mutilation have spoken at conferences hosted by the transgender advocacy organization.

Thomas W. Johnson, a WPATH member and professor emeritus at California State University in Chico (CSUC), is also a formative member of the body modification fetish site, having joined in 2001. Johnson uses the name “Jesus” when interacting online, and has posted videos of genital surgery for other participants to use as pornography.

In one audio file obtained by Reduxx recorded in approximately 2007, Johnson can be heard joking about Viagra and eating testicles. “Smoked, barbecued, stewed, in a casserole … or pureed,” Johnson says in the recording.

Richard J. Wassersug has for over 20 years used the alias “Eunuchunique” on the forum. Wassersug was an honorary professor in the Department of Cellular and Physiological Sciences at the University of British Columbia, but has also been affiliated with Dalhousie and La Trobe Universities.

Krister H. Willette, who has been active in the community since 1998 and uses the screen name “Kristoff,” previously posted to the group’s Usenet community requesting “assistance in performing my castration by Burdizzo.”

Johnson, Wassersug, and Willette presented research they co-authored together at a 2009 conference in Oslo held by WPATH.

In May 2010, the contents of the Oslo presentation were published in The International Journal of Transgenderism, an academic journal issued by WPATH.

Wassersug, Willette, and Johnson were again invited to speak at a 2011 WPATH conference in Atlanta, Georgia. It was during this conference that the decision was made to declassify Gender Identity Disorder as a psychological condition. In its place, Gender Dysphoria would become the recommended terminology.

Johnson also spoke again at a WPATH conference in Quebec last year, where he presented on the topic of “choosing castration.” An academic paper published in 2015 that incorporated the views of Eunuch Archive forum members disclosed that among the most popular story themes on the site were children being forcibly castrated.

It was within the Eunuch Archive’s Usenet community that Jack Wayne Rogers can be seen interacting with multiple administrators and founding site members in a thread from 2000 discussing a snuff penectomy video, in which a man dies after undergoing genital mutilation.

The video, uploaded by a user who drafted the community’s original FAQ document in collaboration with Larratt, caused some controversy within the group. Rogers, as well as WPATH-sourced “researcher” Willette, interjected to defend the horrific content.

“If you don’t like it, don’t download it. Let’s stop giving sh*t to someone for posting what he believed was interesting. There were adequate warnings of the content. This is a free and open system,” Rogers wrote.

In response to one site member who objected to the obscene content, Willette responded, “Take your own advice and stop sh*tting on our group. None more sinful than the righteous.”

Eunuch Archive founding administrator Shannon Larratt also spoke up in defense of the snuff flick, saying, “Oh, who cares. At least it’s not the spam that 99% of the posts are. There is no clear place to post a penectomy video. Maybe he didn’t pick the perfect newsgroup, but we could argue endlessly about which one would be better.”

Kennedy's parents, Rory and Andrea were in their senior year of high school when they'd found out they were expecting. Unexpectedly expecting. There were nerves of course and plenty of worries, but Rory was so excited to be a father. Andrea felt differently. She'd tried after the birth, but soon enough all her friends were going off to college, living their lives, and then there she was. Stuck. See, Andrea had dreams of leaving Nightrest, moving out to maybe somewhere warm like Miami or even Los Angeles, becoming more than just another generation of her family that stayed. The resentment in her grew until finally in October she left, leaving behind the title of 'mother' that she never wanted.

Kennedy's father did as good a job as he could to fill in whatever gaps had been left. As a single father, he'd had to work extra hard to provide and always put that extra bit more of time and attention to let Kennedy know she was loved. They were a pair.

Nearly mirroring her parents, she had been a senior (this time in college) when she'd received news that would change her world. Her father, a commercial fisherman, hadn't made it back on their last outing. They'd said that the storm came up on them faster than they'd thought. Something about the waves being so tall. Nine years and his body was never recovered. Rory O'Neill: presumed dead.

Her father's death shattered Kennedy. She opted not to return to her classes, leaving college just shy of earning her degree in marketing. She fully returned to their home in Ashmore, to this day still struggling to make changes to the master bedroom. She returned back to the job she held in high school. Kennedy sought comfort in what parts of the past she could still hold onto.

Though it has been years since, Kennedy still has not gotten into the water. The closest she'd gotten has been letting the waves run up to her ankles on the beach or when she visits her father's motorboat at the old port. Plenty of people find it odd of her, considering the area they live. Her life was practically built around the water. She just felt more trusting of dry land nowadays.

Despite the lingering sadness, Kennedy truly tries to live each day better than the one before it. So even if there are tears in her eyes, she'll still have a soft smile on. Over the years she's found that it helps to surround herself with other people. Admittedly, sometimes that can lead to her being a little dependent and clingy. After a particularly toxic relationship, Kennedy realizes its something that she needs to work on.

Kennedy has always been a creative kid, a trait she had apparently gotten from her mother. She'd always looked forward to vacations or special occasions when she'd get a disposable camera of her own. There were still several shoeboxes filled with memories. And as she got older, her hobby continued and matured until just the last few years when she started making a side hustle of it. She's by no means getting her work in magazines, but she does a fair bit of the engagement, graduation, baby announcements, and of course the family photos (usually when they're all wearing some form of white button-ups). She'll usually have her camera on her, whether around her neck or in her cluttered monster of a bag— some days she can really give Mary Poppins a run for her money with the amount of stuff she's got crammed in there.

A recent change came on her last birthday, when her grandfather gifted her a cat. Clearly not keen to the rule that animals aren't gifts, he had insisted that Kennedy had needed a companion. "Can't keep living in that house all alone, Peanut." Kennedy still debates on whether he had forgotten that her father had been allergic or whether that had been a purposeful choice. Either way, a black cat named Fitz entered her life and now takes residence mostly in the front window where the sun shines brightest. They both enjoy rainy nights on the couch with trashy television on the screen with wine and charcuterie. Sometimes (most times) he'll earn himself a nibble of cheddar.

Around town, if she's not at her job, Kennedy can usually be found editing photos while sipping on cold brew at the Daily Dose, treating herself to a cocktail and specialty plate at Spirits, or strolling one of the many beaches. Usually, it's Echo but on occasion she'll go to Shipwreck, finding some odd sort of comfort there.

Captivating Iris Photography Captures the Unique Galaxies Within Each of Our Eyes

We see the world through our eyes, but it turns out there's a whole world to see within our eyes. Photographers like Mitchell Zeer, founder of Iris Photo, are placing the spotlight on our mesmerizing orbs. Through macro photography, high-resolution images of our irises (the colored circle around our pupils) are transformed into otherworldly deserts and galaxies.

Irises are unique for each person, just like our fingerprints. On account of this, they are beginning to be used for identification and security purposes. However, its this distinctiveness that makes iris photography so intriguing. And unlike fingerprints, they are much more aesthetically engaging. In fact, each of our two irises are unique from each other as well. We typically distinguish between eyes by color: brown, blue, hazel, grey or green. Yet the base of all irises is blue. The amount and type of melanin added to it determines which color the irises appear. A lot of eumelanin equals dark brown eyes, whereas just a slight hint of pheomelanin adds a yellow tint, causing green eyes.

These macro photos enhance the eye to such a degree that the colors seem to separate so you can see the blue and the melanin layered above it as two different colors. Zeer's photographs also demonstrate that eyes of the same shade can look drastically different. The muscles and fibers of the iris create unique geographies that are then made more distinctive via the roughly 16 genes that determine melanin levels. Despite seeming like a complicated task, photographing the eye and printing art prints takes only 10 minutes at Iris Photo, a process that has been perfected since its inception.

Iris photography first became popular in Europe starting in 2012 when German photographer Felix Mayrl originated the process. Zeer, who had studied photography and psychology, opened his business in 2019. “We believe that every pair of eyes tells a story, a narrative of depth and individuality waiting to be captured,” Iris Photo states. “Our passion lies in the artistry of preserving these tales, transforming them into stunning pieces of high-gloss artwork.” Now, the Aussie company is opening franchises around the world with its first American outpost in Miami.

Artistic Vision Statement

My design strengths are imagery using photography, abstraction in illustration, and also typography. I want to become either a photographer, a social media designer or an exhibition designer. I want to try to improve on my camera skills by attending more photography workshops. Also, I want to explore more about how content creators on social media design their own brands. Lastly, going to more seminars for various exhibitions.

All these statements above were what I wrote for my artistic vision statement. I think that it is still not quite well thought out yet. This is because I feel that my statements above are not concise, and not really thought out in a more in-depth manner. Hence, I do think that it does need some revising.

My new artistic statement is “To be an experimental and receptive designer”.

KCRW is an NPR affiliate radio station and work x work is a creative agency. Previously in 2019, work x work and KCRW had joined forces for On Air Fest. They had an organic partnership. Therefore, developing conversations about doing more collaborations. They also had similar thought processes when it comes to audio.

“It’s about audio, but it’s kind of not about audio- it’s about culture, it’s about community, it’s about engagement.” (Beach) I think this implies that their focus is not only on producing soundtracks, but also, trying to be more engaged with the public.

I like how they used simple typography for their branding. By doing an outline of the four letters KCRW, it creates a graphical framing shape. Keeping a consistent typeface while also using the graphical shape to design their brand identity. The usage of vibrant colour schemes does attract the public, especially in large-scale printing. Where it can be seen even from afar. Lastly, photographs used as the background were captured by photographer Daniel Topete. Using perspectives to capture portraits of people and also LA’s city surroundings. Images being used as backdrop while illustrations and typefaces on top, portrays an over-layering effect.

Snarkitecture is a New York design studio. Created by American musician Pharrell Williams and Japanese graphic designer Nigo, they designed a flagship store for Billionaire Boys Club (BBC). “It’s going to be a place where people can come in to get inspired by the mix of fashion, culture, art and design.” (Dreith) I think this sentence implies that the creators designed this space to attract the public to be immersed in fashion trends, minimalist culture, as well as art and design practices. Many materials were environmentally-friendly which includes recycled plastics, cages, glass and wood panels. Hence, showing sustainability.

In comparison with both design case studies, and relating to my new artistic vision statement, I think that I will choose the second project. It is because I want to try out something new. Reusable materials are a good way to put recyclables to good use. Through design and marketing, experiencing how I should try to complement the collaborators point-of-view.

Reposted from @cmxnr Let’s talk about rest. 🫂 Earlier this summer, the NYU Center for Black Visual Culture (@nyucbvc) invited an intimate group of organizers, curators, scholars, and artists to engage in the Black Rest Project in Venice during @labiennale. A car-free place of connecting islands and bridges, by design, the cityscape prompted our collective slow down. Together we considered how organizations and ways of being uphold extractive systems where the value of a person is determined by how much they produce. Inspired by Rest is Resistance: A Manifesto, by Tricia Hersey of @thenapministry, new frameworks, language, collaborations, and alternative models emerged as equanimous paths forward.

Join us on this ongoing journey, and namely on September 7 in New York for the Center’s fall exhibition: Rest is Power. In a selection of artworks that span photography, painting, and new media, the curators underscore Black rest as a radical act of resistance. F marriage to R - i was reading up on this with different articles. They either had one ceremony or two ceremonies depending on the article. One of the articles I read said their marriage was confirmed by a PRIEST. Either they had a small ceremony in the Maldives then a small church wedding in Spain (and the priest spilled the beans) or the wedding was always in the Maldvies with a priest with very close friends & family. What is unknown, is if he and Lara were actually engaged. Yes, they had rings but neither of them confirmed it.

Getting with A - it was 2022. He was with Linda in 2021. Their last grid photo was in November 2021. Linda had posted a photo with a guy some time after the New Year 2022 but it was a silhouette of the two of them in like Thailand or some place beachy. She would later post a full blown image of the guy (who it seems she is still with) around February. From what I have seen & read, him and A were rumor in the beginning of the 2022 season but didn't get photographed (by the paparazzi at the beach) until the Miami GP.
