We are pleased to announce the details for Mimato Week 2022, which will be held during 22-29 August! And yes, you counted that right, the event will run for a total of 8 days instead of just 7, because how could we say no to an extra day of Mimato goodness? 😏

We would also like to appreciate everyone who participated during the 1st edition last year and everyone who voted in the poll last month, you’re one of the reasons the event is returning for it’s 2nd edition with such a bang. To thank you all, we are releasing the list of prompts a whopping 3 months early, so that you can sit back and relax and take all the time you need to come up with amazing Mimato content!

Just like last year, we don’t have a long list of rules, we just want you to have fun with all the prompts and spread the love for Mimato in every way possible. During the week, you can participate by sharing fanarts, fanfics, edits, photos, make-up inspiration, jewellery, and literally anything and everything you want that is related to the prompts on our list. Remember to either tag your posts with #mimatoweek2022 and #mimatoweek, or tag our blog itself during the event. Submissions are welcomed, too! If you wish to post outside of tumblr, we have friends on facebook and instagram to track our event tags so make sure to use them as well~

To make sure everyone can enjoy the event comfortably, Day 8 and any NSFW entries will be tagged with #nsfw so be sure to have that blocked if that’s not your cup of tea. Highly explicit content, if any, made outside of tumblr will be censored as necessary when posted here. You can then refer to external links for uncensored posts.

hi, hello!

no, i don’t ship digimon x digimon—the above was just a pun lol. but i’m in singapore right now for eid holiday and apparently they have the narabundesu digimon gachapon at donki so i decided to grab all eight while i’m here... except that there’s only piyomon, palmon, tentomon, and too much gomamons. dammit i should’ve known the other 4 are gonna be a rare catch.

aaanyway, since i couldn’t have the complete set, i only took tentomon and piyomon bcs each was expensive af.

i initially wanted to buy at least tentomon and tailmon, so i could have a little enlightenmonth’s celebratory photoshoot. but well, with or without a photoshoot, enlightenmonth 2022 has just started!! the submissions will show up starting today at @koushirohikari, and yes i only set the queue to post once a day. we’re a chill event, ya know?

and since i’m on a holiday, i will read the entries more religiously starting tomorrow (or the day after tomorrow) once i’ve settled back home. i really want to catch reading other fics too, like noct’s mimato or chloe’s year in life since ramadan has ended~ i think i can have some reading time before i start my new job on monday. wish me luck on that too!

MIMI TACHIKAWA WEEK (2022) DAY 6 - “RELATIONSHIP” 

+ Mimato Year September Update 💚💙

Chapter 13, Even If We’re Apart, of TMD is now available to read on FFN/AO3. 

A little snippet: 

There was a deafening cheer across the ramp and the sound of camera shutters clicking at a rapid speed was the only noise that broke through it. The man walked towards the rendezvous area and was immediately greeted by his partner, seeing the two share a tight hug only tugged on Mimi’s heartstrings, she could barely wait anymore. A few more of Yamato’s crew mates came out, some she could recognise through their appearances in her video calls with her husband, others she had only heard about. They all seemed to look different than the image she had of them in her mind, had Yamato changed since the last time they saw each other on video too?

Her question was soon answered as Yamato finally stepped out, lifting his arm to shade his face from the sunlight before his eyes effortlessly landed on Mimi.

What happened next would always remain a blur in her mind, and had it not been for Takeru recounting every second accurately at whatever chance he got, Mimi always feared that she might end up forgetting it altogether one day.

~ Mimato Year - October Update ~

Chapter 14 of TMD, Golden Season is available to read on FFN/AO3.

A little snippet:

⎯⎯⎯⎯ Apple Scent ⎯⎯⎯⎯

Just a sliver of sunlight slipped through the drawn up curtains in their room, but it landed right on his eyes and Yamato unconsciously raised a hand to shield himself. It was way too early for him to get up, he knew that without opening his eyes to even check the time, so he turned on his side, putting his back to the window in order to avoid the light that was now steadily beginning to pour into their room. Although the sunlight had not surprised him, when he turned he got a whiff of an unfamiliar scent from where Mimi was supposed to be sleeping next to him which made his eyes shoot wide open in panic. He took a deep, relieved breath when he found that the person sleeping next to him was indeed his wife, even if she smelled different than usual.

Now that he was a little bit awake, Yamato didn’t mind devoting his attention to what had changed about Mimi. He gently grabbed onto a lock of her rosy brown hair and leaned towards it, inhaling strongly to get a good scent of it.

He was accustomed to Mimi’s hair smelling intoxicatingly sweet, like berries or candies, but instead he was met with a crisp and woody scent, like that of freshly cut apples.

“What are you doing?”

In his attempt to familiarise himself with this new scent of Mimi’s, Yamato had failed to notice that he had managed to wake her up.

“You changed your shampoo?”

“Why, yes I did. Creep.” She smiled, snuggling closer to him.

“Hey, some people would consider the fact that I noticed very romantic.” Yamato put his arm above her head so she could rest it on his chest and snort at his statement.

“Some people might. I think it gives off very creepy, serial killer vibes.”

“It’s quiet unlike you to change brands so randomly, so I wonder which one of us is going down the serial killer path.” He shot back and she punched his chest playfully in retaliation.

“I got a free sample at the store yesterday, so I tried it. Do you not like it?”

“No, it’s not that. It’s just unexpected.”

“Well I didn’t expect to be up at-” Mimi leaned her head forward to look at the digital clock on their bedside table, “5 AM talking about my haircare choices either.”

“Yeah, yeah. Sorry I woke you.”

“It’s okay, sweetheart. Next time I’ll remember to give you a week’s notice before changing shampoo brands.”

“Ha ha. You know I’d actually appreciate that,” Yamato replied dryly, “just so I don’t wake up thinking I’m in someone else’s bed.”

~ Mimato Year ~ June Update ~

Chapter 10, Leave Me Breathless is up!

This chapter features six different snippets focusing on the prompt ‘kiss’, and since I don’t have a graphic this month, have a little sneak peek instead:

Even as the rain mercilessly crashes down, drenching her from head to toe, she stands still. Her hair would soon be an uncontrollable mess, she didn’t have a change of clothes and was miles away from her house, she didn’t know if the bag that had fallen onto the ground next to her feet was as waterproof as the store clerk had claimed, and yet she stood still.

How was Mimi supposed to move when Yamato had her shoulders in his tight grasp and her lips covered with his own?

The cold raindrops landed on her body like icicles but her body remained heated, heated by the sensation of Yamato caressing every inch of her lips with his own, by the touch of his hold on her bare shoulders growing tighter by the minute, by the sound of his ragged breathing as he refused to come up for air, by the warmth of his body pressed against hers, by the comfort of their hearts beating loudly together in sync.

She had meant to leave, just a few minutes ago she had stormed out of his apartment and into this pouring rain with tears streaming down her face, heart set on never returning to him, until he managed to say the words she wanted to hear from him.

But Mimi realised then, that even though the words had not been spoken out loud as she had hoped for, she could still hear them loud and clear all around her.

~ Mimato Year ~ July Update ~ 

Chapter 11, Summer Camp Conundrum is now up on both FF and AO3. 

I really thought I wouldn’t be able to write anything this month what with digiweek and all, but here we are! No graphic again, so have an excerpt instead:

“I’m going to call Child Protection Services, you can’t make us do this.”

His elder sister’s words hung in the air and Yuki watched silently as both his parents heaved tired sighs and leaned back into the couch they were sitting on, his mother rolled her eyes upwards and his father draped one arm around her shoulder as he massaged his forehead with the other. His sister was always a tad bit dramatic and usually when she went against their parents like this, Yuki would quietly excuse himself from the situation. Which is why in the next moment, his eyes met his father’s, the latter probably hoping that Yuki would lead the way into ending this discussion on good terms, and as much as he wanted to answer to his father’s expectations, Yuki stayed put on his seat next to his sister.

Today, for a change, he was on his Onee san’s side and no coaxing from his father would change that.

“Fuyu, you really are too much some times.” Mimi remarked as she eyed her daughter warily.

“Guess who I learned that from!”

Even Yuki flinched slightly at that comment, his sister was the bravest person he knew hands down, for always challenging their mother like that.  

His mother opened her mouth to argue back but his father raised his free hand and passed a stern look in Fuyumi’s direction, “That’s enough.”

It wasn’t often that their father used this tone with them so his sister simmered down immediately, folding her arms across her chest she pouted in their father’s direction but it did not have the effect she had hoped for.

MIMATO WEEK 2022 (DAY 5) - “MAID CAFE”

Summary: All Yamato wants is to join his university's newspaper club but the obstacle standing in his way is Editor-in-chief, Mimi Tachikawa. Can he strike a deal that she just won't be able to refuse? [College AU] 

“So? Use it. Why do I have to get involved?”

“I can’t go to a maid cafe Yama, I have a girlfriend.” Taichi responded indignantly, stressing the last word a little more than was needed.

Everyone knew he had a girlfriend, he had made sure of that when they had started dating by taking a megaphone and announcing it wherever he went. That had been a tough week for anyone who was associated with the brunet.

“Sounds like a you problem.” Yamato scoffed, he raised his laptop screen again, ready to put this conversation behind him and shoo Taichi away.

“No, you owe me.”

“I don’t owe you shit. I paid for your dinner yesterday, you owe me.”

“Your whole family owes me for emotional damage worth years since your brother decided to come out as gay and break my sister’s heart.”

“We don’t owe you anything for the fact that your sister was just that blind.”

“Hey, don’t you dare badmouth Hikari-”

“Don’t you dare bring Takeru into this.”

MIMATO WEEK (2022) DAY 7 - “FANTASY” 

The Demon Prince is all set to inherit the position of the ruler of the Demon Clan, until a chance meeting with a goddess from the rival Goddess Clan changes his world forever and he experiences pure love for the first time in his life. ~Mimato Week (2022) DAY 3 - “HOGWARTS”~ 

Reunion at Kings Cross, for In This Life and the Next : FFN / AO3 

Summary: Yamato, Mimi and the stories of their lives in every AU imaginable. Latest: Mimi is returning from her final year at Hogwarts and Yamato contemplates buying her a present before he heads to Kings Cross to see her.

“As he had expected, the steam engine screeched loudly and came to a definitive halt, jolting Yamato out of his fantasy and making him focus on the scene in front of him. Student after student poured out of the train, rushing towards their family members, more and more people appeared from beyond the stone wall and hustled around the platform. He cursed himself for spacing out at such a crucial moment, because the crowd had very easily pushed him back and now he had to navigate through the sea of heads bobbing around him and find Mimi.

Not that it had ever been difficult for him to spot her in a crowd, from the very first day she had walked into the Great Hall as a First Year, she had caught his eye, and even now among the swarm of students that took over the platform, Yamato only needed a minute to locate her, his face breaking into a natural grin as he noticed her turning her head here and there, possibly looking for him.”

~ MIMATO WEEK (2022) FINALE ~

Well, we’re finally here! It was such a a long week but it still got over so soon 🥺 I truly loved seeing every single contribution, and all the varied & creative take on the prompts! I want to thank everyone who continued to participate despite you know what, and also thank those who supported the week by liking, reblogging and generally boosting the submissions on every platform. 

I am so glad to be a part of a shipping community so positively close-knit and so talented, I can’t wait to see how all of us come back stronger and better next year! 

For the final day, I decided to do something special and update Koisuru. 

This chapter is what most people would call a filler, but in my heart it is the core of what this fic was always supposed to be, the kids having fun living out their teenage years and doing teenage-y things, instead of fighting to save the fate of not one but two worlds. 

I hope you enjoy the chapter, and if you’re still in two minds about reading this fic, then here’s an excerpt for you: 

“Your girlfriend’s ex?” Yamato asked carefully and Jou nodded stiffly in response.

Him and Taichi exchanged looks once again and he noticed the spark of mischief in best friend’s eyes. He immediately glared at Taichi, asking him to stay down through his eyes but Taichi just attempted to grin in reply and if the three of them weren’t awkwardly crouching below the ramen shelves, Yamato would have reached forward and grabbed Taichi by the collar before he did anything stupid.

“Why are we hiding from him?” Yamato asked again, unsure of what to make of Jou’s petrified expression, and also to keep Taichi engaged in conversation before he did something stupid.

“He hates me.” Jou whispered, his voice breaking slightly.

“Why?” Yamato pushed again.

“Because he’s not over her? I don’t know exactly, but he’s really scary, please let’s just wait for him to leave.” Jou begged, strengthening his grip on Taichi’s mouth as he felt him trying to wiggle out of his tight grasp.

However holding Taichi back was a talent that not many succeeded at except Sora, he was able to fully remove himself out of Jou’s grasp and once he succeeded, he grinned widely, “I wanna see his face.”

“Taichi, no.” Yamato hissed, motioning towards Jou’s frightened form.

“Just a peek. I’ll be done in a second.” Taichi responded in a laid back manner, Jou’s silent whimpering having no effect on him as he stood up with utter ease and looked across the store. Yamato was about to drag him down but the minute Taichi’s eyes found the target, he himself immediately ducked down again, shock replacing the goofiness on his face. Yamato was obviously surprised by Taichi backing down so quickly and his own curiosity tingled but he decided to control himself for Jou’s sake.

“What the fuck? He is so bulky! He could strangle the three of us in one go, Jou who the fuck are you dating?” Taichi’s voice was filled with surprise, and this time he whispered in the same low tone that Yamato and Jou had been using,  and his statement almost made the latter cry.
