I was just on a sizzling rollercoaster ride and it was titled Topics of Conversation! 🔹 In a very unique way of storytelling this novel discusses complicated relationships, female desire, disgust, motherhood, loneliness, power, gender, rage, envy, and guilt. 🔹 Spanning seventeen years, each of the ten chapters in this book are different conversations the unnamed female narrator has with friends and family. 🔹 I really enjoyed the first chapter and then it got a little confusing for me, but I am so glad I stuck with it because it all started coming together and I really enjoyed the ride. Many of the conversations are unpleasant and had me asking, “Why would you do that?”. Then I realized that these are truths that some women live but are afraid to voice. I had to ask myself why I was being so judgemental? Contrary to what some people may think, not all women are perfect. Being honest with oneself and sharing one’s story, however difficult, is empowering and this novel highlights this. 🔹 I can’t say I have been through any of these same experiences but one thing is for sure, I can not get this book out of my head! I love when a book does that which is why I am rating this one 4/5🌟. 🔹 I read this book with my fellow BG gal pals: @hotcocoareads, @theartfulelle and @wordchild.
