Trim the wallpaper at the edges, and at the top and the bottom of the walls, with scissors or a craft knife. If you use a knife, lay something metal (a 3′ ruler came in handy for us) behind the paper to protect the walls from getting scored. We made this mistake and, although it wasn’t horrible, it hurts your heart to damage newly plastered walls.
