Bio: Once known as the Hylian Champion, as Zelda’s personal knight and as the Master Sword’s chosen one, Link was presumed to be dead for a hundred years after Calamity Ganon took over Hyrule Castle, the Divine Beasts and the Guardians. Zelda and a few others saved Link before he could actually die, putting him into a cold deep sleep for him to heal, so when he returned he would defeat Calamity Ganon and save Princess Zelda.

100 years later, Link wakes up with no recollection of who he was in his previous life. Current link is a very cynical man who, despite being told by the Hylian King in spirit form, Impa and Zelda that he has a duty, a mission for the sake of the world, the guy would rather dick around doing his own thing, only begrudgingly doing as he’s told after getting frustrated with the voices in his head. Even after being told he can recover his lost memories and reminiscing about the past, he still doesn’t feel compelled to be a hero -- all of those people are dead, out of commission and is being forced to play the hero after waking up without knowing who he is outside of his name, why should he care?

Well, he does care, poor Link simply needed time to form new connections that were meaningful to him. As he travelled around Hyrule, hunting dinner, helping the locals ( whether he wanted or not ) and completing shrines, he met some interesting folks and formed strong bonds that became meaningful to him. Paya, Sidon, Yunobo, Kass, Teba, Riju, Bolson, Hudson, Beetle and many others gave him a reason to have a meaningful life, to not be so jaded and sarcastic all the time, a reason to become the Hero of Hyrule and defeat Calamity Ganon.

Note: BOTW exclusive with a lot of my own interpretation and reading of this character.
