My favorite part of making matryoshkas is their hair. The added element (not present in the traditional design) is an exposed braid or a lock of hair. I simply wanted to show the luxurious fiber I use. Blond hair is usually merino wool or camel fiber; black - raw sheep locks; red hair - hemp fiber. I haven’t replicated a single matryoshka not because I can’t, but because matryoshkas, like people, should have their own individuality. Don’t you think? These one-of-a-kind pieces will be available @pinetreepopup after Thanksgiving and at my booth at @art_onthehill in East End community school on Dec.6-8. Элемент, который я добавила к традиционному дизайну матрешек- это косы или волосы, выглядывающие из под платка. Отклонение от традиционного произошло случайно, когда хотелось показать красивые волокна я использую для волос. Для блондинок - нежную шерсть верблюда или овцы меринос; для чёрных волос - нерасчесанные кудряшки овцы; для рыжих - мягкие льняные волокна (кстати похожие на настоящие волосы, но не такие прочные). Матрешек (лицо и наряд) я никогда не копирую, чтобы показать индивидуальность, как у людей.
