Anyway after a 19 year hiatus i’m back making blinkies again (basic animation in procreate is so much easier than it was in 2003).

how did u make blinkies in procreate????? dope as hell btw and did u hhave a site in the 2000's where u posted blinkies? so cool [:
I do make blinkies in procreate!
Previously I'd used Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 + MS Paint + Animation Shop 3, then Photoshop 6/CS2, and finally wandered off to not make blinkies for 19 years. I am in fact old enough to have used my insultingly low $600 trump stimulus payment to frivolously buy an iPad.
I'm also working on a video tutorial as I refine my procreate process, since making pixel art of any kind in procreate is a bastard. And I'm rebuilding my 2003 blinkie website at neocities! With new content! Image descriptions! And hopefully a way to stop the animations wholesale so the site is more accessible!
(I'm also working on remaking my cartoon dollz website in the same fashion because it is also hella inaccessible in its current archive.org preserved web 1.0 state).
(Personal lightbulb moment below the readmore/feel free to ignore.)
Anyway, note to self, to display 150x20 pixel blinkies at the correct and desirable resolution on tumblr, I think we need to set them on a 540px wide transparent background and then offer download links at a different location such as a tumblr page or below a readmore. Display up to 3 across/for best results blinkies need the same number of frames.

Howdy y'all:
I'm the creator of moolium blinkies:
I made my blinkies back in 2002/2003 using paint shop pro 7 and animation shop 3 that I got as free trial and then a begged for birthday gift. Many of us used MS Paint or the very! First! Version! of gimp or pirated editions of Photoshop 6 that we got off limewire. Overnight. On 28.8-56 kilobyte dialup.
It was an utterly obnoxious process and I can tell you on good authority that every single person on the forum where they originated would have given their mouse arm to have access to a tools like the template sites because they're freakin awesome.
And they beat hand pixeling every moving thing in the image with a stick.
Just curious, how do you feel about people who claim to be blinkie makers but use template sites w/o crediting said template sites? I’m asking because I’ve noticed a few who do claim this and are just using your site and similar ones, without even referencing that they do.. and I felt it was unfair :\… feel free to correct me tho!
i don't mind them tbh!! here are some thoughts (pink text for tldr)
blinkies are kinda like memes. a funny caption makes or breaks a meme. imo adding text is an important part of the creative process of making blinkies! i'm not that good at it myself, which is why i love running a blinkie generator :3
personally i really enjoy blinkie blogs! i feel like blinkie maker blogs using generators are an important part of the blinkie ecosystem.
running a blinkie blog using generators is a gateway to creating custom blinkies! custom blinkies people make from scratch are literally my favourite thing to see on my dash :D !!!! they really stand out & they push the medium forward & i wanna make it easy/appealing to try!! they deserve more attention tbh. i think it'd be cool if ppl used like,, a standard #custom blinkies tag or something to showcase original creations and make them easier to find.
i appreciate credit but it's not a big deal. honestly i just really love seeing blinkies ppl make with my site!! if u wanna do something nice for me feel free to tag your post with #blinkies.cafe so i can find them easier :D
in many cases @transbro deserves credit more than me. he made a lot of the templates on blinkies.cafe, including most of the pride blinkies and fandom blinkies!
