Cult #cruffin favourite @MrHolmesBakehouseSG has opened a second store in #RafflesPlace (MYP Centre to be exact)—their gorgeous, and generously stuffed, #cruffins (go for the Coconut Cream; last pic) a godsend after mundane work calls. But what excites me more is their array of new, savoury offerings. Outlet exclusives include the comforting, fail-proof 🌟Egg Mayo and Candied Bacon Bagel (pic 3), with creamy and sweet notes, and Korean-inspired 🌟Spam, Egg & Kimchi Croissant ($13). Cruffin creator and San Francisco-founded bakery @MrHolmesBakehouse has landed our shores! Opened 12 July, the new bakery-cafe @MrHolmesBakehouseSG is currently their only international outpost—the Seoul outlet, which I had the pleasure of visiting, has shuttered. Located at @PacificPlazaSG, their bakes—from their star cruffin to variety of croissants, donuts and cookies—work well in a takeaway/delivery climate, though their signature “I Got Baked In” neon sign and white-pink aesthetics are best enjoyed in-person on an idyllic afternoon. For their launch, they’ve collaborated with @MightJaxx—you’ll find a vending machine of toys and merch—and their latest character Monixx on a limited edition 💖Yellowpink Croissant. It’s a cheerful matching of ruby chocolate and the tropical zinginess of mango curd. Another must-try is their 🍋🥐Lemon Meringue Pie Croissant. The airy pastry is dusted with lemon sugar, decked with torched meringue and white chocolate shards, and generously filled with a luscious and tangy lemon curd. Their Mint Chocolate Chip Cream #Cruffin will draw divided views. Rather than a more usual reinterpretation of childhood flavours within a buttery, flaky pastry, the filling was an overwhelming grassy buzz—that distinctly refreshing menthol kick of mint lacking.
