@multipleoccupancy . Theo's family gets bigger
The Baudelaires had been in New York for a few days now, living in the house of their new guardian: Theodore Beneventi. New York reminded Violet of the town where she grew up, only bigger. Much, much bigger.
Mr. Beneventi, who had told them they could call him Theo, seemed like their most normal guardian so far. For starters, he was not afraid of turning on the stove, which was very nice, because it meant the Baudelaires could enjoy a warm meal for the first time in a few weeks. There were no snakes in the house either, which, to be fair, was to be expected. And of course, here, they were not ordered to do horribly long and difficult chores.
The other thing that differed from their last guardians, was that Theo already had a family. He had a wife, Andrea, two sons, and a baby daughter, who was already getting along great with Sunny.
Violet felt like their luck might have finally turned. Even the terrifying shadow of Count Olaf didn't seem as scary, considering that Theo was an FBI agent. She did not usually consider herself lucky, not since the terrible fire that had killed her parents, at least. But for the first time in months, she was feeling much more hopeful than usual.
And, it's with that noteworthy hopefulness that she left the room she shared with her siblings, and tip-toed to the kitchen. It was still early in the morning, but she was awake and craving a glass of milk.
Tumblr media
"Good morning," she said politely when she saw that the kitchen area wasn't empty. Theo was already there. He was very nice, and she already felt comfortable around him, so she poured herself a glass of milk. "The view is very beautiful from here," she commented, not only to make conversation but also because it was true.

@multipleoccupancy . King Arthur gets robbed 🤷‍♀️
It wasn't the first time that Fish had to travel the universes to indulge Dimitri's newest whim. In fact, she was sure that his requests were becoming increasingly ridiculous. After asking her to bring him the Apples of the Hesperides because he was craving apple pie, he had now told her to fetch him the Holy Grail, no less. All because he couldn't be bothered to wash his goddamn mugs. You'd think that after 20.000 years of being alive, the man would do his chores.
She was hoping for an easy trip. Get in, get the Grail, get out. Simple enough, right? Especially with a magical door that led to virtually anywhere. The only problem was that she didn't really know where the Holy Grail was kept, in this big castle. And the more she roamed the place, the more likely she risked getting caught. She was pretty sure that if a guard saw a woman with a sword and a pair of jeans, they'd think she was a witch or something.
She climbed an endless flight of stairs for the umpteenth time that night, finally finding herself in a dark, secluded room atop a dungeon. And finally, here it was. Dimitri's newest mug.
Tumblr media
"Bingo," she said to herself, too enthralled in her victory to hear the footsteps behind her.

🌟 Unique - Arthur - probably something actually 'magic'
Gift Giving Prompts
Teaching Arthur about the modern world was proving to be a Herculean task. The world was so different now that practically everything required an explanation of some kind, and those explanations usually lead to more questions than answers. Holidays were no exception, not even ones that were vaguely familiar, and with the timing of Arthur's arrival, it was inevitable that Christmas would become a matter of discussion.
It seemed sensible to Mycroft that despite his own feelings about celebrating holidays in general (which boiled down to a general dislike of the noise and the fuss they created), if the former king were to understand it, he needed to experience it. That was how he had ended up putting together a 'proper' Christmas - one that included a tree, presents, and everything else that was to be expected.
While most of the presents under the tree were for Arthur (it was, after all, a good excuse to furnish him with more aspects of modernity), one of them was from him. Mycroft had sent him out to buy one - all under the supervision of one of his trusted assistants, as he didn't yet trust the other man to successfully navigate shopping on his own yet - but he hadn't yet seen what it was. As much as he hated to admit it, that had got him curious.
Having sat down on Christmas morning with a couple of mince pies and a glass of scotch (so what if it was early? If any day was for indulgence, this was it), Mycroft had suggested they open the presents. He had not been surprised to see Arthur bring him his first, and had accepted it without complaint.
Upon opening the gift, Mycroft did not resist the urge to roll his eyes. Ah yes, of course. A 'wizard's robe' - blue and covered in crescent moons and stars. How bloody typical. Mycroft very much regretted ever allowing Arthur access to depictions of how he, as Merlin, was portrayed in modern times.
"I am not going to wear this," he pointed out, playing the part of an irritated old man well, despite part of him still being touched by the fact that Arthur wanted to buy him a gift at all. "If it had come from anyone else, I would have half a mind to burn it."

Recruitment || Killian & Kid
When: 20th May 2010 Where: Seattle {Back alley} With: Killian Briante @multipleoccupancy
“Hey! Two slices each and make them last, got it?” Kid asked, cuffing Beat on the back of his shaggy head as the boy inhaled his first slice. Kid couldn’t blame him, it might’ve been days since the guy had been able to eat- a beating from some rich fucks on a night out left him unable to get to Sarah for a few days. Still, he’d only been able to grab enough bread for a few slices each, until he could get back out later. After, well… IT, Kid had been holding back from his usual haunts in case the burnt man came looking; he wasn’t stupid enough to think you walked away after seeing what he’d seen… Not again anyway.
“Who’s that?” - Eloise’s question had him quickly turning to see, well fuck, to see the man who’d been ingrained in his thoughts the last four days and made his blood run cold: The Burnt Man. “Who is it?” Eloise asked again, her little hand tugging on his sleeve as Kid stared at the figure in the ally mouth. “Chive,” He said, not taking his eyes off the other, “Take the rest of the bread and share it out, two slices each, inside.” They’d been making use of an abandoned warehouse after the junkies inside had been busted last week, most of the doors closed so it was better than most.
“And run if you hear me yell.” He whispered to the second oldest of the group who nodded with narrowed eyes, taking Eloise’s hand from his sleeve and leading the group inside. Kid walked forward, doing his best to appear the picture of ease, and folded his arms- curling his fingers around the handle of a knife hidden in his sleeve. “What do you want?” He asked, pleased his voice was level when he felt nothing but panic and faint nausea at the sight of the man- those inhuman body parts dancing behind his eyes.

@multipleoccupancy . it's tea time 🍵
While Samantha didn't regret her choice of leaving the field to work as HR for the Program, she did miss her favorite agent and closest friend here. Killian was still on active duty, which meant that she saw him much more rarely than before. But whenever he was in the office, he always popped in for a chat and a cup of coffee.
Tumblr media
Luckily, today was one of those days. When he walked into her office with an empty coffee cup and a smile, she beamed at him. "Killian!" she exclaimed, already picking up her own cup (which had a big sun with sunglasses on it) and standing up. "How was Seattle? Tell me everything!"

@multipleoccupancy . sorry Edgar 🤷‍♀️
Ah.
Isaac looked at the man standing in front of him, mechanically handing him his hand to shake. "Mr. Longshadow, is that right? We met briefly last time." Edgar Longshadow. The man who had shot his ship, 15 years ago. How he had found his way back to the Miller girls, Isaac didn't know. But he did not like it.
Isaac had admittedly developed a sort of possessiveness towards the girls. They had been his most successful experiment, after all. And this man could have ruined it all for him. He would not let him try that again.
Tumblr media
"I don't see Mrs. Miller with you today, should I assume you have come as a patient?"
His tone was cold but polite, and he gestured for Mr. Longshadow to walk into his office. It was, in the end, somewhat of an interesting opportunity. The chance to make sure he would be out of the picture for good.

@multipleoccupancy sorry (again) Killian 😈
The Horned one did not bother turning when the door opened. Instead, He stood nonchalantly next to the crib, visibly holding something. Said something was quite small, wrapped in cloth, and cooed happily in His arms.
The room was plunged in darkness, apart from the light coming from the corridor, and the small blue nightlight plugged into the wall. In fact, it looked like He was a part of the shadows, palpable and yet strangely immaterial.
"I must say, Teddy," He hummed, still not looking in the agent's direction, "you have a cute little daughter there." In response, the baby chirped, waving her arms at Him.

"Look at that, isn't she adorable? And not shy at all."

“Our media is no more truthful than yours.” - Theo/Killian
Politician Sentences, Vol. 7
"No media is completely honest. It is too powerful a manipulation tool for the powers that be to leave it with any kind of intact integrity."
It may not sound like it, but Mycroft was agreeing with the other man. He found Agent Beneventi to be a mildly interesting individual - which, from him, was somewhat akin to a compliment. He didn't dislike the man, which was all that most could hope for.
"Of course, there are ways around this, if you have the right connections. I can reach out myself, but I am aware that foreign interference is not typically appreciated - especially here. Would you like to attempt to contact the media first?"
They needed to organise a media blackout. Mycroft was certain that he could do such a thing with a high level of efficiency even despite the handicap of being British, but he was also aware that the FBI were theoretically capable of doing the same. In order to prevent raised tensions by stepping on the toes of his temporary 'colleagues', Mycroft was willing to let Agent Beneventi attempt to take the lead.

@multipleoccupancy sent: [COMMON ENEMY] Muse A and Muse B are from two different agencies and get assigned the same target. --- Edgar and FBI Fish >.> from: 𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍/𝐒𝐏𝐘 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐓𝐒
Tumblr media
"You have got to be kidding me."
Fish's tone couldn't have been less cordial. She gauged the man in front of her, eyebrows knitted together. "And what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at the park, feeding ducks?"
She took an annoyed sip from her glass, scanning the room quickly. It was a very select party, the fancy kind she usually wouldn't be invited to. But this was work, and she was undercover, posing as a rich heiress. She supposed Edgar had good reasons to be here, being (on the surface at least) a diplomat and all. But still, how annoying! She still remembered their last encounter, and it hadn't exactly gone smoothingly.
Tumblr media
"Don't mess this up for me this time," she warned between her teeth, "I'm working."

"Make yourself comfortable. Nobody knows you're here but me." - Killian
Spy Sentences, Vol. 21
Mycroft's impression of Agent Beneventi was that he was a rather paranoid man. However, he also thought him to be professional, and he supposed that trait, rather than trust, was why he had agreed to meet Mycroft alone without the protection of anybody else knowing who he was seeing. Not that Mycroft planned to do anything to justify the other's paranoia, of course. He merely found the dynamic to be a mildly interesting one.
"Thank you," Mycroft said as he sat down. "I do appreciate the privacy."
He trusted Beneventi just as much as he suspected the man trusted him (which was to say, he didn't), but he accepted that the balance of probability when it came to him doing anything unwanted was low. There did not seem to be any motive for it, and the man didn't seem the type to do anything unexpected simply for the sake of it. That being said, Mycroft had made sure that there was a record of where he was and who he was meeting. Was that hypocritical of him? Yes, it most likely was, but he found himself lacking concern about that.
"You may have gathered that I have reason to doubt the loyalties of some of our colleagues.I believe there to be conspiracy afoot, and it will benefit you just as much as it will benefit me to ferret it out."

@multipleoccupancy (Dallas & Ethan)
It was getting pretty late. Most reasonable people would be considering going to bed within the next hour or so, but Dallas had only just got off work. He'd been running the security for a visiting dignitary in New York for the last few days, but, now that was done, he had a few options. Dallas could either go back to his hotel room, catch a flight home, or...
Well, while he was in the area, he may as well visit his favourite fellow agent, right? Especially when he knew exactly where he lived, which was really an oversight on Ethan's behalf, but Dallas was hardly going to complain about that. It was nice to have that sense of friendly comradeship again. He wasn't going to admit it, but he'd been rather missing that since his falling out with Lockdown, and certainly since Lynchpin's death.
Dallas didn't call ahead. Instead, he simply turned up on Ethan's doorstep, a bottle of bourbon in one hand, and a few takeout pizzas balanced in the other.
"Howdy, kid!" He greeted, throwing out a sparkling smile the second the door opened. "Can I come on in? I bought some supper for us. You do eat pizza, right?"

"Just because everyone else is letting their standards slip, doesn't mean I have to." - Moriarty
You're the Boss Sentences
"I'm not letting my standards slip," Mycroft shot back, glaring at the other man. He wasn't! Or, at least, he wasn't aware that he was, and Mycroft did have to begrudgingly admit that one of the reasons why he had brought Moriarty in instead of allowing him to rot in prison like he should have was because of the man's usefulness as a second pair of intelligent eyes. There was always a chance, no matter how small it may be, that he'd spotted something that others had not. If that was the case, then Mycroft knew that he'd do well to listen to him.
At the same time, though, he hated how criticism from Moriarty made him feel. It sent him straight back into his youth, when he thought the man could do no wrong and hung onto his every word as if he wee gospel. Every time it happened, it served as a reminder of exactly how well the former professor had managed to manipulate him - of how he'd failed to see the truth of the situation. To make matters worse, the fact he still felt that way meant that the other man still had a hold over him, at least to some small degree, didn't it? Mycroft hated that aspect most of all because not only was it a sign of continue failure, but also he just couldn't seem to snap out of it.
Maybe he was letting his standards slip, just only in regards to himself.
"What are you suggesting I do?" Mycroft ended up asking, on the off chance that Moriarty did have some good advice for him. "I'm certainly not seeing whatever you think you may have noticed."

"I'm scared… I don't know if either or both of us can get out of this." - Edgar once they're a bit more settled in 13
Tumblr media
Fish was scared, too. Not that she wasn't used to the feeling. Fear had been like a shadow, for the past 5 years. Always following her, everywhere she went. Of course, it had followed her to 13, too. But this was different, now. Less of a warning, more of a... certainty.
President Snow wanted her dead.
She was pacing around the room in a storm of blue hair. The charming mask of the Mermaid from District 4 was gone: her eyebrows were knitted together, her hands clenched into fists.
Tumblr media
"I can't," she finally said, settling down on a grey, metallic chair (everything was grey here). "I'm stuck. I can't stay here, I can't go back to the Capitol-" unless she killed Edgar, "and I can't go home."
She was being selfish. He'd saved her life, and she was throwing a temper tantrum. Lips pursed, she looked at her feet. "You could leave. You could find a way out."

💼 a professional email -- Edgar
𝐖𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐍 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐒 𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐄 (💼 a professional email)
Tumblr media
Edgar,
I hope this email finds you well.
I am currently en route to Washington, D.C. I apologise for the lack of warning, but I will be staying with you for the remainder of the week. I have already cleared it with the Ambassador, using the need to be covert as an excuse to turn down offers of other accommodation. He believes that nobody in the right mind would assume I am staying with you.
If you are not in the city, I will let myself in. I can source a key.
If you are in the city, I would appreciate knowing what is for dinner.
My plane lands in four hours.

🤣 Joke - Edgar gives Mycroft a toy lie detector with a remote control for 'lies'
Gift Giving Prompts
Mycroft had not been expecting Edgar to give him a gift. Though he was to remain in the US during the Christmas period, he had expected the other man to either ignore the holiday completely, or to ignore Mycroft in context of it. However, to Mycroft's surprise, what had actually occurred was the other man giving him a gift out of the blue.
After a moment of brief confusion, the younger man unwrapped the gift with apprehension. Unusually, he was not sure what it could be. All of the contextual clues he could see did not suggest anything that he would expect, and even once the wrapping paper was removed... Well, what was he supposed to do with a lie detector aimed at children?
"What is this?" Mycroft asked, brow furrowed as he turned the box over in his hand. Maybe there was something else inside the box? Or maybe it was a reference to something he didn't understand. He looked up and at Edgar for guidance on what he was supposed to do next with the gift.
It was at that point that it occurred to Mycroft that he hadn't bought the other man a present in return. Ah. He'd have to pick up something later. A bottle of whisky would likely do.
