MOC’s Arcanaverse: City of Vesuvia

Notes:

The city of Vesuvia is roughly 11 km x 9 km.

Market, Central, Goldgrave and Southside districts are all roughly at sea level (though western parts of the Market can be quite hilly).

These districts are divided by large canals and threaded through with much smaller canals and waterways. These are the main transport methods in Vesuvia.

The Temple, Heart, Business, and Palace districts are set into the cliffs surrounding the city, topping out at about 300 meters above sea level (where the palace sits). These districts are threaded through with stairwells and switchback roads.

Climbing to the palace from the market is often jokingly referred to as “climbing the seven thousand steps.” (It’s less than 2k steps.)

Surrounding the city proper are cedar forests to the south (including the Chapel of Cedars, where Muriel lives), wheat fields to the west, and orchards to the north.

The areas directly surrounding Vesuvia are known for their excellent crop-yielding soil. In addition to growing wheat and other grains, Vesuvia exports oranges, cinnamon, grapes, and wine.

Many families in the Vesuvian aristocrata are either producers or exporters of Vesuvian goods (such as the Valerius family, who produces wine) or run international shipping companies.

The Vesuvian port is one of the busiest in the earthside realm, serving as the connection point between the western nations and the eastern seas.

High walls and aqueducts surround the city proper, making it an extremely safe city from attack. Because of this (and a very well-trained army), the city has an extremely stratified wealth distribution; many wealthy immigrants in the shipping industry call Vesuvia home.

Vesuvia has immigrant populations from all over the world, including Nuru, Prakrans, Drakrans, Kirati, Fennek, Nevivonii, Franc, Alban, Busanese, Nipponese, and Seong.

The aqueduct system pumps water from nearby crystal springs into the city, though it is rare to have running water in homes in the districts close to the docks. It is even rarer for homes to have private baths (though it is more common in the heart district).

The city is dotted with public bathhouses, where the waters are fragranced with a distinctive combination of orange and cinnamon oils.

During the plague, plague beetles bore into the cinnamon trees and infected them. Contaminated cinnamon oil in the bathhouse waters contributed greatly to the spread of the plague in the poorer districts.

So I've had this idea since I stumbled upon this song and she finally released it out of TikTok but anyway "come into my arms" by November Ultra. It's scribbly but the first draft I had of this on my computer wasn't working and I deleted it. but I have the tools to decently put it together on ipad
