Wow! My 92 year old mother just gave me great advice! I told her that I was really struggling with trying to design an online class that only runs for 5 weeks. I explained to her that I had no problem with 15 weeks, but I was concerned about compromising my creativity and actually being able to help the students improve, etc. She said start and that I have to follow the school’s structure first. Then I’ll be able to modify it as I progress and that the creativity will happen later! Thanks mom! She was an educator in remediation and got her college diploma in her 30s in 1973 or 1974! Back in the 1960s ‘older’ women didn’t do that. She just told me that the man who interviewed her at the college literally said that he didn’t want to accept her because she had so many children and one with special needs! It took my mother 7 years to finish! She said she saw him at graduation and wanted to say something to him. I said you should have said “These are my rugrats and I did it!” We were joking that my sister Nancy and I did her art homework! You really learn by example! I never ever thought I would become a teacher. Now look at me! And my mother just gave me great teaching advice, too! 💖 Luv ‘ya, mom! BTW- another life lesson she taught me was how to make friends because I went to a new school in the middle of the semester when I finally turned 5. I still use her advice! #advicefrommom #thanksmom #teachers #educators #mymomwasatrailblazer #melissaederart #welearnbyexample (at Thanks Mom) https://www.instagram.com/p/CB7E-8ClEvB/?igshid=1cuok3ojtlks4
