The Lore Before

Moons before the start of this story, Myrtleclan was thriving. Pinestar, then Pineleaf, was a respected deputy of a large clan. The other clan, Podclan, and Myrtleclan lived in harmony with one another in the forest.

Until tragedy struck.

Twolegs began poisoning the river, poisoning the earth, and poisoning the air. Fish lined the banks as they washed ashore, birds fell from the sky, mice and squirrels and voles would fall from trees or drop dead. Any cat who dared eat these animals would suffer the same fate.

Starclan spoke to the medicine cats, one being Cherrydream, to leave the woods in search of a new home. For moons they traveled in search of land that would fill their bellies and protect them from Two-legs. Pineleaf and Thymeflare returned to the traveling group with a small kit, claiming to have found it abandoned in a stump. The kit was taken in by a den mother before her inevitable passing from starvation. Fallingkit was then placed with Cherrydream for the remainder of her kithood.

After arriving to their new home near a lake- Myrtleclan settling in at a beachy area while Podclan sheltered themselves in the forest nearby- Cliffpaw would be the one to discover a small pool inside a cave with many stepping stones. She felt called by Starclan and founded the Starpool where the clans would commune with their ancestors. Shortly thereafter, Cliffpaw left their warrior training and was under Cherrydream's wing as her apprentice.

The old leader had passed, leaving Pineleaf to become Pinestar. He elected Flightpatch as his deputy. Fallingkit is soon named Fallingpaw and given Thymeflare as a mentor. Rumors spread through the clan- sparked mostly by the two michievous elders, Whisperingleaf and Rainsplash- that Fallingpaw is Pinestar and Thymeflare's daughter. Fallingpaw hates these allegations and her mentor. They argue often, though it is usually one-sided as Thymeflare can't seem to bring herself to argue against the apprentice.

Fallingpaw's peer, Burrowpaw, was always an odd one. Cherrydream had often wondered if Burrowpaw would have made a better medicine cat than warrior apprentice, but after seeing his morbid curiosity with the fresh-kill, she figured he was better off as Flightpatch's apprentice.

Murkdrizzle, a tom who couldn't seem to keep a mate longer than a few sunrises, has become more focused on supporting his clan than on she-cats and toms.

This ragged clan of just 10 cats have begun to settle into their new home. What horrors could possibly await them here, in paradise?
