Today's polish combo comes from the collab that Kelli Marissa did with Orly last year. The base polish is orchid with a gold shimmer, which would have looked gorgeous all on its own. But with the topper, it was so fun and festive. I especially loved the holo glitter in the topper. It doesn't really show up in my pictures, but when I looked at it outside the holo really sparkled. This is Kelli's Constellations over Kelli's Moondust both from Orly.

Kuko glared at the few clouds in the sky as Jyushi was busy covering his nails in black polish. The fall season had started with a few sudden storms, so when the sun had appeared that day they had decided to sit on the veranda of the temple.

“Kuko-san.”

“Mh?” 

Jyushi stopped painting his nails and waited for Kuko to look at him. “Next month I have to attend my cousin’s wedding.”

“Really? Sounds great. You just sit down and get free food.” He snickered, observing the lacquer as it was drying.

“Yeah… well…”

“What’s the matter? Speak it up, Jyushi!”

Startled by the monk, Jyushi lowered his head. “My parents… asked if you want to accompany me.”

Kuko stopped blowing on his nails. Well, that was new. “Oh, you’ve told your parents about us?”

“N-no… what are you talking about?” 

“It looks like they want me to be your plus-one.” He explained, snorting.

Jyushi looked at him with a shocked face. “No, no! They still think we’re just teammates and…”

“Are you sure about that?” The simple question made the young man shut his mouth. 

Kuko had met Jyushi’s parents a few times, mostly when he swung by for reading comics with his boyfriend, and he wasn’t sure if they liked him that much. They respected him as a religious figure, but they have never actually talked for more than a few minutes. Anyway, he would bet they had understood the two weren’t just teammates a long time ago. Jyushi wasn’t exactly subtle when he talked about Kuko and the monk was the only person he had brought home ever. His parents might have been a little absent, but they weren’t stupid.

“I don’t think they meant that.” Jyushi tried again. He was still holding the small nail polish bottle in his hands.

“Jyushi.” Kuko sighed, taking the container to close it. “It’s your cousin’s wedding. A family reunion. Why would they ask you to bring a friend?”

“Maybe… they don’t want me to be alone?”

“Jyushi.”

“Do you really think they know?” He asked and looked like he was on the verge of tears.

“99% sure of that!” The monk laughed. When he saw Jyushi’s worried face, he patted him on the head. “If they had a problem with this, they wouldn’t have asked in the first place.”

“You… You’re right…” Jyushi sniffed a little. 

“I’m always right!” Kuko nodded. “Now, let’s talk about more important things: do you know what kind of cake the happy couple has chosen?”

“K-kuko-san! Will you come with me then?!” Before the redhead could answer, he grabbed his hands lovingly.

“Of course. As I said: free food and a probably very tasty cake. I don’t need any more excuses to accompany my partner.” 

Jyushi blushed and pushed his face against Kuko’s hands to hide himself. The monk grinned. A few minutes passed before Jyushi started to work on his own nails.

“Kuko-san, I was thinking…”

“What now!”

“Would it be okay to wear matching outfits to a wedding?”

“And being way more fashionable than the newlyweds?! Fuck, yeah!”

Complaining and Nail Polish

Summary: Every so often, two unlikely friends would get together can vent about their problems while doing each other's nails

Side notes: This is set Pre-accepting Anxiety, dragon witch uses they/them pronouns

Complaining and Nail Polish

“- and I didn’t even do anything this time! I was just sitting there minding my own business but NO! He just HAD to be UNNECESSARY and DRAMATIC and storm into MY cave while I was mINDING MY OWN GOD DAMN BUSINESS! AND-!”

“Alright, alright. I get it. He’s annoying but I need you to sit still. I’m trying to do your nails.” Anxiety said with a smirk on his face. He chuckled as his friend not only sat back down but also plopped onto the ground in a lying down position and refused to sit back up. His friend was Princy's sworn enemy (or whatever) the Dragon Witch.

Currently, they sat in Anxiety’s, also known as Virgil to a few, room, bitching about the smalled inconveniences and gossiping about the other sides, be it light or dark. Nail polish of all colors and brands laid around them, though most of the bottles leaned towards the darker side of the color spectrum.

“Alright Fran, what colors?” Virgil addressed the Dragon Witch. Fran gave a dry and sarcastic laugh before replying.

“That's funny V! You know my color palette.” The dragon in human form said. The anxious trait rolled their eyes before picking out a slightly desaturated colors that represented the landscape and sky during dusk. Hot pinks, pastel oranges and yellows for the sky and dulled purples for the scenery. These were the very same colors that the Dragon Witch was, in fact, wearing right now. However, instead of their usual robes, formal puffy shirt, dressy slacks, and heeled boots, they were wearing a flamingo pink sweater with yellow pajama pants and orange dragon scale slippers. Fran’s usual bejeweled and styled hair was down and pooled around them. The color was a stunning crimson red and the length was long enough to reach at least Fran’s hips if not longer.

After about 15 minutes in comfortable silence, Virgil uttered a quiet but triumphant ‘done’ and lounged back onto his carpeted floor. Fran perked up from their spot on the floor and stared at their nails, examining the anxious side’s work. After a few more beats of silence, they smiled and looked at the trait laying on the ground.

“Alright darling!” the Witch declared, sitting up with an amount of vigor that was not there before. “Sit up and pick your polish. Then start talking! I saw how tense you were when I came in.” They demanded. Virgil froze for a second at being found out before once again relaxing and pushed himself up. Silver eyes met rose gold ones and both smiled, finding comfort in each other. Anxiety opened his mouth and started to rant about everything from how LOUD Creativity could be to ‘why the hell do Bluetooth headphones have to die?! That should be illegal and the person who made it should be thrown in prison’. Fran listened to the rants and joined in on the conversation at some point.

Hours of every week were spent like this, and quite honestly? Neither of them would give it up for the world.

I decided to try a few polishes from a new to me indie brand: @516polish I’ve heard about them before from @nailastrophic who loves their polishes so I finally got round to buying a couple. I went with Hundreds and Thousands, and Enchant. I am always drawn to glitters first, especially holo. They arrived with this adorable little 516 Polish branded glass nail file as a freebie, which is amazing and will be living in my bag from now on. As you can see, both polishes are absolutely beautiful! They have a fab formula and apply beautiful and both have no issues with glitter dispersal.
