There's always a danger of caring too much about a story, and then getting paralyzed by the need to do it justice, so it never gets written.
I've solved this problem in the past by writing stories so fast that I don't have time to get too invested, or writing stories that I'm not that attached to.
But maybe the trick is to love the story so much that I want to share it any way I can, even if it's imperfect. To feel that any version of this story is better than the story never getting written at all. To get out of my own way and stop worrying about what other people will think of my writing, or even what I think of my writing, and love the story for its own sake, love the readers enough to want to have the joy of sharing the story with them.
Maybe it'll work. Maybe it won't. But so far it feels like a much better approach.

don’t want to give you false hope, but with the way i’m looking at it rn, chapter 4 of liar, liar will most likely be released somewhere around the 10th-16th of june?
as for start of a new obsession, i’m thinking around the 30th of june? perhaps a little earlier?
i’ve put a little more time in writing liar, liar out because it’s the only one gaining traction atm, and is also the one with the longest number of words for each chapter. that doesn’t mean i’m abandoning soano! still working on it, just a little slower :)
yeah that’s all really. oh! friendly reminder that my username will change in a couple of weeks from ack4rwoman to tojiscrack (i refuse to use tojisbum, lalalala, idc if tojisbum somehow miraculously won by a landslide)!

okay so I wanted to show @coffee-mage-sans-caffeine some terrible field Beagle stacks, so that they could see how uncomfortable the dogs look, and therefore I went hunting for field rabbit beagle kennels.
I turned up one pet "rare color" breeder and one that turned out to be a breed-specific article from a fucking content mill. Which: Gross. But the third one actually was a field rabbit-hunting beagle breeder, one who had the most good ol' boy [appreciative] blog description of his goals I've seen in a very long time:
Woodpont Beagles are a pack of dual-purpose (show and field bred) hunting hounds located in Southern Ohio, USA. Some of our female lines now stretch back as many as 16 generations, spanning nearly 40 years. Hounds from this kennel have been very successful in the past at field trials and shows, although the primary focus the past 20 years has been on pack work after cottontail rabbit or snowshoe hare.
[...]
Feel free to contact us if this sounds like the type of hound for you. Not everyone likes the same kind of beagle. If your interest is field trials, or showing, you may want to keep looking. If you want good, honest hounds for pack work or gunning, these just may suit you. Puppies occasionally available.
Like, you know that is an old white man with the most rural of backgrounds and interests. His philosophy is fantastic, mind you, the dogs themselves are a blend of conformation and working beagle lines with the goal of maintaining the best of both worlds, if I wanted a beagle or to hunt rabbits I'd be on that man's doorstep in a heartbeat. I'm reading his stuff and I'm watching very carefully, and I see a post title and pre-emptively flinch:
Immediately what pops into my head is QAnon and hideous right-wing politics have invaded all kinds of circles over the years, and look I was starting to really like this guy, his opinions about working hounds are kickass, and oh no he's going to take time out of his day to make it clear he thinks people like me are scum--what does it read--oh no, oh no, what is it gonna say--
Things You Will Not See Here
Hounds with No Show Blood
Hounds with No Field Blood
Hounds in above ground kennels (i.e., raised on wire rather than being reared on the ground. always. no stacking kennels or god forbid runs.) ...
Yeah. Okay. I can live with this. It's a website straight out of 2013 (or 2003) rather than 2023. And oh, what a breath of fresh air the blog is!

Lately I’ve been thinking of my true form au and glancing at what I have written but I never get very far in writing because I remember the entire plot hinges on implying something I refuse to outright write so I’m stuck in this weird limbo of “what’s the best way to imply this” and “okay even just implying this is killing me”

every time i see those posts of people being like "if you can't live without mcdonald's here's alternatives/recipes/whatever!" and its like. appreciated obviously. but it is so insane to me that people out there even NEED that in order to be convinced to boycott.
you shouldn't NEED an alternative, you should boycott even if there was no fucking chance of you ever eating food like that again. how fucking selfish can you be to prioritize your favorite foods over the countless lives of palestinians

My annoyance at Mys.tra referring to the creation of the Seven as a "misstep" aside, it is interesting that she identifies their kinship as the problem. She specifies that her new Chosen should be different from the Seven and each other. I think paranoia is definitely a factor in her reasoning. Cyric killing her in her own home and then spending over a century shattered rattled her to say the least. We know she starts keeping all sorts of secrets from her Chosen after she's reborn, and she commands them to keep all sorts of secrets from each other. We also know El, Storm, and Lael think their goddess is misguided in these changes and are trying to council her away from them. Good luck; paranoia's tough in mortals, let alone gods.
But, we also know Mys.tra took precautions with her daughters centuries before this. On some level, she's always feared their power. She took steps to split them up as children and ensure conflict with their foster families. She's continued to take precautions throughout their long lives to curb them. She doesn't want anyone to use them as weapons, and she doesn't want they themselves to overreach.
Arguably the number one way she's restrained them — and this is her primary tactic with all her Chosen and anyone else worth her notice — is through their relationships. Their bonds to their homes, their friends, their loves and children, each other. The previous generation of Chosen, at least the ones that stood the test of time, were all extremely close to each other. They had bonds of family, mentorship, romance, friendship — these complex literally ancient dynamics built on experiences no one else shares or understands.
Mys.tra encouraged and sanctioned these relationships. They were a source of strength and comfort for the Chosen. One of the great hurdles Mys.tra faced re: Chosen was finding people who could stand the test of time. It is an astronomical burden. The previous' batch's bonds with one another have kept them alive through it all. And, that's probably exactly what scares her now. They are incredibly powerful, capable people on their own. United? They could make the heavens heel. The Seven and El in particular know so much about her, about Azuth, about the workings of the damn universe — and they have been operating with little to no oversight for over a thousand years collectively. If I was in her position, nursing that understandable paranoia, knowing that no precautions will ever be enough to save me . . . yeah the Seven and their kinship would start to scare me, too.

i kinda hate that im asking this but - if i were to open up commissions to help save up for a motorized wheelchair (one that i can actually use / transport bc the one i bought was a lie but since it's completely brand new / unused + put together already im going to sell it to pay for some of the cost) would anybody be interested ?
like. i would be open to doing art / writing / moodboards / phone backgrounds and such. i'd make it pwyw bc i know ppl don't have much money these days and i'm very unsure of how to do my own pricing.
the motorized wheelchair i need is a little over $3k (which. yowch. ik.) and i can probably get ~$2k for the one i bought bc that's what i spent, but i'd be willing to negotiate w/ a nice person, so im going to need to save up ~$1k for it :(
