The tea is MEANT to be, at best, a metaphor of suicide, or, at worst, suicide outright. Even if it turns out to not be that, Ruby FOR SURE believes that it is. Hell, Ruby drinks the tea while Neo-Roman talks about how the world ‘Would be better off without you’. How are people supposed to see that, and then NOT draw parallels to suicide?

because the tea is the reaction to the "suicide metaphor based on whatever neo-roman says", not the cause, and rebirth of the self is a common thing the individuals of the ever after experience on a daily basis

i mean a fun thought experiment for you to take home is if you go to sleep and wake up the next day how are you so sure you're the same person as the day before. the "you" from the day before is "dead" but the "you" of today will also "die" the next time you sleep. the way you changed from when you were 0 to 5, 5 to 10, and so on in years mean that you may have the same line of memory and perhaps even way of thinking but you're never actually the same person as you are yesterday and you will never remain the same person as you are tomorrow. is that death of the self not comparable to a ship-of-theseus character development moment?

i'll rule it as suicide the moment ruby is removed from the story permanently, thanks.
