Hand over presidency to me – Ezekwesili tells critics
A former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili has charged members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to hand over the presidency and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to her. Ezekwesili vowed to tackle the degenerated insecurity in the Southeast and other parts of Nigeria if the presidency is handed over to her. She vowed to put those behind the insecurity situation in the Southeast to shame. Tweeting, Ezekwesili wrote: “It appears they have once again conferred on me the Constitutional Duties of the @NGRPresident, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. “They do so without handing the office to me so I can urgently, decisively and effectively tackle the degenerate state of insecurity in the South East and other parts of the country and permanently put them to shame for their abysmal failure. “Such duplicity is the typical Modus Operandi of the @OfficialAPCNg @NigeriaGov folks and their Fan Club who never take responsibility for anything but suffer from an obsession to ‘grab power just for the sake of power.’ “When you are ready to hand over formally to me as your Commander-in-Chief of the Nigeria Armed Forces, let me know. Until then, enjoy calling my name in vain.” Read the full article

By • Olalekan Fagbade You should’ve emulated Jonathan – PDP Chieftain advises Peter Obi, Atiku, Former federal lawmaker, Ben Murray Bruce, has faulted the legal moves carried out by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his Labour Party (LP) counterpart, Peter Obi, saying both of them should have emulated what former president, Goodluck Jonathan, did by refusing to challenge the outcome of the 2015 presidential election in court. The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) had ruled in favour of President Bola Tinubu re-affirming his victory in its ruling in Abuja on Wednesday. But while reacting to the verdict, Mr Murray-Bruce felt both Atiku and Obi should not have started the journey at all. According to him, the politicians should have saved themselves the trouble by emulating former President Goodluck Jonathan, who in 2015, picked up his phone and congratulated Muhammadu Buhari even before the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, announced the final results. According to Bruce, there should be no need to further waste time and resources once the electoral umpire has declared the winner of an election. “We must follow the Jonathan doctrine and accept the people’s verdict in the interest of democracy and the nation,” he wrote on X. “Our elections don’t have to end in the courts,” he insisted. The PDP chieftain further advised that the aggrieved politicians should accept the Tribunal verdict and place national interest above self-interest. “Bola Ahmed Tinubu, @officialABAT, is the duly elected and undisputed President of Nigeria, @NGRPresident,” he said, adding that there should be no further doubts and dispute after the judgement. #AtikutoemulateJonathan #BenBruceadvisesPeterObi

Sowore Knocks Nigerian Minister, Lai Mohammed Over Fallacious Comment
Tumblr media
The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has berated President Muhammadu Buhari and his Minister of Information and Culture, Mr. Lai Mohammed, over a treason allegation against the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi and his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed. The President Buhari-led Nigerian government through the minister of Information and Culture on Tuesday accused Obi and Datti-Ahmed of treason going by their comments about the outcome of the 2023 general elections. Lai Mohammed, while speaking for the government during his official engagement with some international media organisations in Washington DC, United States, said Obi’s comments on the just concluded general elections showed he (Obi) was acting like “a desperate person; he is not a democrat that he claimed to be.” The minister stated that it was wrong for Obi to seek redress in court over the election results while inciting people to violence in another. Reacting to the allegation, Sowore said, “I am clear about these issues even though I stringently continue to state that @PeterObi and his @NgLabour are not different from his @OfficialAPCNg and @OfficialPDPNig uncles, however, shameless Lai Mohammed and @NGRPresident claims that protected speech and lawful protests against fraudulent election amounts to “Treason” is a hoax and fallacy carried too far. “They’re harassing @Peterobi and his Vice Presidential candidate, DATTI Ahmed with these tactics because they know they are wimps with zero ability to fight a revolutionary struggle and because they’ve all been partners in crime since 1999.” Read the full article
