2x18 Reactions
Max is hardcore Simon and Maia have such good chemistry I wrote a whole thing about why new characters are a good thing, but I have reservations about Bat. The only purpose he could serve seems to be a love interest for Maia. Stop announcing top level shit to the guy who showed up 10 minutes before all the security breaches started! Good point Seelie Queen! More good points. She's just not wrong. Shadowhunters as a system are fucking monsters. Even for Izzy those shoes are ludicrous God, I'd forgotten what an unholy disaster Alec's season 1 hair was. He looks like he was attacked by wasps in an emo band. Matt and Harry diving back into their S1 characters flawlessly. Sam and Ollie! I want Sam to learn about the downworld so badly. I love that they put Simon in this plot. Emotionally and logistically it makes sense, he's a great POV character, such a good counterpoint to Luke and Maia and a good parallel for Bat. This would be a better scene if Jace was alone, and Clary, as always, is surplus to requirements. So many dumb decisions around trusting Sebastian Gross. Robert. This is a perfect first time scene. It's honest and loving and not overwrought or schmaltzy. Especially given the age group this show is geared toward. Love love love it. Said like a Shadowhunter, Luke I wish someone would write werewolves that didn't revolve around a bullshit study written by a moron. Cooperative wolves. The choice not to add music here until the end is pure fucking genius. It's an awesome contrast to the showy Shadowhunter training we've seen this season. Raises the stakes. Perfect. I have to come back to this rape allegory later. Alisha is the strongest performer in this show. She should be the lead and I love her. Between her talent and her story, it's almost offensive that Clary is the lead. Uuugggghhh speak of the devil I love Maryse. These flashbacks are integrated into Magnus's plot so well. It's a clear story build. This is, if not the best written episode, solidly in the top three. Episodes are better the less Clary is in them. Nicola looks amazing. Wow. That's how they are going to kill Max? This is also perfect direction. Perfect framing, perfect slo-mo, perfect music. This is some next level shit, truly. Was... this the plan, do what it takes to get the mirror then bail? Clary sucked less for 15 seconds, and immediately fucked up again. Kill her! Save the show! Be a hero Jonathan! This pain thing is one of the first things the show has really seeded in early and reaped good benefits from. That was satisfying as hell. How are all 8 of Clary's lines wooden and pointless explanation from the book. She has contributed exactly 0 of anything to the main plot. Even the pan over this room is good. They have to bring back this director. They are incredible. He has not gotten better at apologies. This is crushing, but sooooo goooodddd Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Okay... Luke is the king of this restaurant, yes? That's very clearly how this is being shot. King Luke What! The! Fuck! Yes! Amazing! This is everything I wanted! Yes! Sam and her girlfriend in the in the downworld? This has so much potential! I am fucking thrilled! Thriiiiilllllleeeeeddddd Oh no! What if Clary isn't the most special to special? Water......shiny? Waaatttteeerrr.....shhhiiinnyyy.....
