Started Blasphemous 2 today and my first impression of it is that it is easier than Blasphemous. Not complaining, though, just happy to see that it has gotten a bit easier to more people can play with without worrying that it's too hard.
Also, easier and better for my osteoarthritis hands.
Only thing I miss so far is the disturbing dark ages imagery the first one has. This is more renaissance romance horror.

While Blasphemous is a challenging game which asks patience (especially in the beginning where common enemies kill you with two hits), it’s nothing for me compared to original 90′s Rayman and Klonoa, which I haven’t beaten EVER.
They are a way too difficult for me to play. So cute but clearly made in Hell.

I’m at the final boss in Blasphemous but first, I will collect all items and check all hidden things >:3c
I’ve read people saying that a) Blasphemous is hard b) there’s too much running back and worth.
I have a tip how to make the game easier (you will still die at times, it’s OK) and how to avoid running so that even a casual gamer like me, who DOES NOT enjoy of hard games and will ditch a game immediately if it’s too hard, has enjoyed Blasphemous so much.
As soon as you beat Ten Piedad, Albero’s church will open. Collect yourself 30 000 Tears of Atonement (or 50 000, if you want to save the trouble of collecting first 30 000 and then 50 000). Takes some time but it’s worth the trouble.
Donate 30 000 (or 50 000) to the church. It will grand you immediately the price of the said donation but also all the previous donation gifts - this means that you don’t have to donate first 2000, then 5000, then 10 000 but you can donate 30 000 and get also the prices of 2000, 5000 and 10 000 tears. Super neat!
With 30 000 tears you will - Be able to remove your guilt for free in the Albero church - Have your energy and fevor bars filled full in each saving point - Teleport from a saving point to another without limitations If you donate 50 000, you will get a bead which will give The Penitent One a short moment of super strikes hitting targets, which causes lots of damage also to the bosses.
Also, keep your sword updated always to its max level. That’s easy as it requires just Tears of Atonement.
I beat all the boss fights after Our Lady of the Charred Visage with these things with a first try, except for the fire dude in the dungeons (took me a while to learn his moving pattern). And I am NOT a good gamer.

After beating Our Lady of The Charred Visage (after a 1h struggle), normal enemies and jumping around feels like nothing - which is a good thing :D

It is so good! 1000% down to my alley and my aesthetic! Really speaks the language of my soul and heart in all possible levels and ways.
The only time I have felt this same feeling was when I was in Germany in a museum, in a corner dedicated for witch hunt times. There were replicas of torture devices, dioramas of witched being tortured and executed in all possible ways and this all was crowned by Gregorian chants for God’s Grace and Mercy playing on the background. I stood on that tiny corner around 30 minutes, feeling like I was ascending some other realm of existence.
Unbelievable.
I can’t wait to finish the game so I can dive head on into the Blasphemous art book I got with the game.

What I miss in Blasphemous 2 is that they have toned down the disturbance scale. You can see this immediately in the opening act compared to the first one, and even the soundtrack - as wonderful as it is - seems to be lacking that tone of desperation and anguish.
The story telling with items has been toned down a lot, too. When you discover, let's say, a piece of bone in B1, it comes with a lore like "Armando was a skilled painter, who did all to protect his nimble hands. His nimble fingers helped him not when he was burning on a stake together with his paintings." In the B2, the same bone comes with a lore "Armando's finger, who was a skilled artist".
And the opening act, as I said! This is how B1 starts:
Tumblr media
You wake up in a pile of naked corpses of previous Penitent Ones, who have failed their pilgrimage. You get up and run through corridors, where you see more bodies as far as your eyes can see.
This is how you wake up in B2 opening:
Tumblr media
A quiet, serene tomb, surrounded by worshipers who have been turned into stone (by the Miracle?). You run through empty corridors, with a few stone statues here and there.
Bosses seem to be toned down by their designs, too. In B2 you'll fight a (cannibal) skeleton priest:
Tumblr media
In B1, you fight a blinded, blood crying baby nurtured by a vine monster.
Tumblr media
When you reach the village of Albero in B1, you'll come across almost an empty village. It has been struck by a horrible disease caused by the Miracle. There are monks, who treat patients with herbs and kisses, doing their best and asking for help. You need to bring them herbs from your travels. The whole building is full of people, children included, who are writhing and crying in agony, missing limbs, bleeding, covered by rashes, some are already half-dead.
When you reach the city of Blessed Name in B2, it's a lively city with people minding their own businesses. You'll meet a blind sculptor, who asks you to help him to finish his final piece before he dies. You need to collect sculpting tools for him.
HMMMM.....
Someone said that since the Miracle was cleansed in B1, it's not affecting people the same way in B2 anymore. But the whole charm of B1 - for me at least - was that insane Miracle, which makes no sense while at the same time it makes complete sense. It can bless people, it can turn people's bodies to physical embodiment of their sins - and whatever really happens, people bless the Miracle and are happy about it. Some acknowledge that the Miracle can't always be positive ("Sorrowful be the heart") but no one really resists it.
The Miracle is still there in B2, so it could have continue its twisted ways.
I saw someone saying that B2 feels like Baby's First Blasphemous and it fits.
A minor complaint, from someone who loves B1 due to its atmosphere and disturbing visuals.
