Natalie hadn’t planned on coming. If it wasn’t for Alex’s encouragement and the worry over what Erik might do, she would have stayed home, locking the doors and eating her weight in candy. But she found herself at the carnival, dressed in a Lava Girl costume to go with Alex’s Shark Boy. But she still wasn’t enjoying herself. She was too worried. But at least the cotton candy was helping her survive. “I don’t think I am up for any rides this year. Maybe some games...” she stated, picking at her cotton candy. “I think someone is going to need to take this away from me though before I eat it all. This is my third one.”

EVENT 005 : ANNUAL HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL

Despite everything, the annual Halloween festival is still going forward. The event, which will take place in the square, has amped up security once more. Protective magic will be placed around the event to prevent anyone from coming in or out outside of the designated entrances and exits. Magically protected security guards will stand by and every guest will be required to walk through a metal and magic detector to prevent any dark magic from entering. 

Though security will be intense, the usual games, drinks and food will be up and running and as spooky and exciting as ever. Let’s not forget about the annual costume contest too! Everyone will be dusting off their best and scariest costumes in an attempt to try and win the coveted trophies. We’ll have to wait and see how scary this Halloween will be...

The event will take place from the 25th of October at 12 noon GMT until the 8th of November at the same time. There will be a plot drop on the 31st at 12 noon GMT so keep your eyes peeled for that. Please use #nkthalloween2 for your open starters. Do not use  #nktevent as this is for admin use only.

There will also be a costume contest where muns will vote for characters in certain characters. The form for this will be during the event. In order for your character to take part, you must send what your character is dressed as to the main and post a picture of the costume before October 25th. The picture can be a social media or collage edit or simply the photo by itself with a caption indicating that it is their costume. This is so that a list can be formulated to ease the voting process. The list will be posted on the 25th after the event started. Please use the tag #nktmisc for the photo.

EVENT 005: HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL - PLOT DROP

They came unexpectedly. They seemed to melt out from the shadows. Hooded figures carrying grimoires, amulets, holding hands. Anything to channel magic for the spell they were casting. It was unrecognisable. Not any spell that any witch at the festival had heard of. The chanting echoed around the square, around the whole town even. Witches started to gather to try and counteract the spell but it was over before they could begin.

In a second, the hooded figures were gone and something else rose up in their place. Or rather... someone else. Misty figures that started to appear more solid after a few moments. Ghosts. The veil that separated Northknot and the dead supernatural plane was lifted and suddenly, the citizens were staring into the faces of those who had passed on. There was a cry as a loved one was recognised. Perhaps it was a joyous moment. Then the moment passed as people began to realise where friends might be, enemies might be too...

The plot drop is part of the event so it is not over yet. You are welcome and encouraged to incorporate this plot drop into threads but please do not make up facts about what happened. You do not have to incorporate this into every thread though if you’d rather keep some pre-plot drop.

Essentially, anyone who has died that lived in Northknot or might be in Northknot on “the other side” with unfinished business may show up. Please think about what unfinished business a dead NPC might have before deciding they would show up. Ones without unfinished business would have found peace and moved on. The ghosts cannot physically touch anything or anyone. Do not RP the ghosts of another character’s loved ones/relatives without discussing it with them first.

Hi friends! Just a little post to tell you that the Halloween event is officially over! You are welcome to wrap up current threads but any new threads must take place after the event. Please also read the follow in character announcement made by the Mayor of Northknot when they addressed the town after the event:

I know we are all confused about the events of the festival. We are unsure of the spell that was cast by the hooded figures and believe it is one that they created themselve. Please be assured that our best witches are working to decipher the spell and find a way to undo it. In the meantime, we will have some extra citizens of this town for a while. We will make adjustments to suit the ghosts for the time being. Please be patient as we try to get to the bottom of this.

The end of this event marks the introduction of a new species in the RP. You can now apply for ghosts in this RP. You can find their page here. Please note that these ghosts are formerly supernatural creatures. At the moment, we will not allow ghosts who were humans when they were living. Happy roleplaying !!
