So, what did you think of the last Silicon Valley episode?

IT WAS WILD. THE WHOLE SEASON WAS WILD

I have mixed feelings about this show, generally speaking. I hate it and love it, but deep down I just think I hate the fact that I love it. I’m not a strongly opinionated person who enjoys giving definitive verdicts such as ‘this season was Good’ or ‘this season was a Mess’. I’m like, whatever. It is what it is. I’ve enjoyed most of s4, it kept me watching and it kept me excited for the next episode, and that’s all I want out of casual tv.

(Also, I have this thing with comedies where I’m like ‘this would be 80% more fun if we could just bingewatch the whole thing in a day’. Speaking from experience, I’ve noticed my judgment of a comedy is influenced positively when I don’t have to wait a week between episodes. So like, I’m sure if I had waited for the season to be over and I had just finished watching it, I would be like ‘wowoowowoow THIS IS THE BEST THING I’VE EV ER SEEN!! OUTSTANDING! TOTALLY UNIQUE! right now)

Asshole Richard was both fun and maddening to witness, Thomas did an outstanding job, as usual. I love this character sfm, no matter what. ALSO! We got plenty of Richard/Jared this season, so !!! I mean, okay. It’ll never ever be canon, sigh, but I’ve made my peace with it, and therefore I’m getting the most out of it. They’re so Soft™, & no matter what the writers are going with this, Jared is in love with Richard and I won’t hear say otherwise. Richard was so unfair to him this season, especially in ep 9/10, which completely INFURIATED ME. But w/e, it’s all good now. I thought the season would end badly for them, but nope! I’m so grateful we got a reconciliation, even tho I’ve enjoyed that little bit of angst we got. THAT CAR SCENE WAS LIKE PEAK ROMCOM, OH MY GOD. Only thing, I’d love for Richard to acknowledge Jared waaay more. He’s always making weird faces when Jared says something abt his past. Ok we get it, it’s weird but it’s also pretty dark stuff. So like??? Not funny. Also! We know Richard isn’t the best at apologizing, and Jared is great at reading between the lines, but all I want is for Richard to admit OPENLY how utterly lost he’d be without Jared. ‘I’m so sorry dude’ is not gonna cut it. Like I want him to say ‘I’d be DEAD right now if it wasn’t for you. You saved me on multiple occasions and I owe you MYLIFE’ or, you know, something along those lines lmao

Also because I guess there are other characters on this show .. TOO LITTLE GILFOYLE this season. I MISSED HIS SARCASM. Dinesh this season was unsufferable, sorry. Big Head remains The Best. MORE MONICA & LAURIE. I’m sad Erlich didn’t have a satisfactory sendoff, it was so underwhelming meh. I never cared much for him, but like? He’s been a MAJOR part of the show. Unfair.
