Team Sweden I and Russia I have won the team sprint competitions in PyeongChang, Korea.  In the ladies' competition it was a 4-team battle heading into the final lap between Sweden I, Norway I, USA I and USA II.  Liz Stephen of the USA II team known best for her climbing ability up Alpe Cermis on the final stage of the Tour de Ski took control on the first climb of the stadium but was unable to hold off the charge of the Swedish team anchored by Maria Nordstroem and Norway's Silje Oeyre Slind on the final climb.  In the end no one could match Nordstroem and she brought Sweden home to victory by 1.71 seconds ahead of Norway. In third was the USA I as Ida Sargent just out sprinted Stephen by 3.5 seconds.
In the men's competition it was another team sprint photo finish, this time between Russia and France.  Friday's classic sprint winner Gleb Retivykh brought Russia I to victory by just 0.03 seconds ahead of Lucas Chanavat of France.  In third place was Russia II +5.52 seconds back.

Bending of Light and Inhomogeneous Picard-Fuchs Equation. (arXiv:2009.03713v1 [hep-th])
Bending of light rays by gravitational sources is one of the first evidences of the general relativity. When the gravitational souce is a stationary massive object such as a black hole, the bending angle has an integral representation, from which various series expansions in terms of the parameters of orbit and the background spacetime has been derived. However, it is not clear that it has any analytic expansion. In this paper, we show that such an analytic expansion can be obtained for the case of a Schwarzschild black hole by solving an inhomogeneous Picard-Fuchs equation, which has been applied to compute effective superpotentials on D-branes in the Calabi-Yau manifolds. From the analytic expression of the bending angle, both weak and strong deflection expansions are explicitly obtained. We show that the result can be obtained by the direct integration approach. We also discuss how the charge of the gravitational source affects the bending angle and show that a similar analytic expression can be obtained for the extremal Reissner-Nordstroem spacetime.

Loosely trapped surface and dynamically transversely trapping surface in Einstein-Maxwell system. (arXiv:2007.03139v1 [gr-qc])
We study the properties of the loosely trapped surface (LTS) and the dynamically transversely trapping surface (DTTS) in Einstein-Maxwell systems. These concepts of surfaces were proposed by the four of the present authors in order to characterize strong gravity regions. We prove the Penrose-like inequalities for the area of LTSs/DTTSs. Interestingly, although the naively expected upper bound for the area is that of the photon sphere of a Reissner-Nordstroem black hole with the same mass and charge, the obtained inequalities include corrections represented by the energy density or pressure/tension of electromagnetic fields. Due to this correction, the Penrose-like inequality for the area of LTSs is tighter than the naively expected one. We also evaluate the correction term numerically in the Majumdar-Papapetrou two-black-hole spacetimes.

Stationary bound states of spin-half particles in the Reissner-Nordstroem gravitational field. (arXiv:1302.2557v5 [gr-qc] UPDATED)
We prove the possibility of existence of stationary bound states of spin-half particles in the Reissner-Nordstroem gravitational field using a self-conjugate Hamiltonian with a flat scalar product of wave functions. Bound states of Dirac particles with a real discrete energy spectrum can exist both for particles above the external "event horizon", and for particles under the internal "event horizon", or the Cauchy horizon. The Hilbert condition g_{00}>0 leads to a boundary condition such that components of the vector of current density of Dirac particles are zero near the "event horizons". Based on the results of this study, we can assume that there exists a new type of charged collapsars, for which the Hawking radiation is not present. The results of this study can lead to a revision of some concepts of the standard cosmological model related to the evolution of the universe and interaction of charged collapsars with surrounding matter.
