i think that some peoples' reaction to that person's post about addiction/recognizing problematic substance use was really disproportionate, not least bc the op was informed about/by disability justice principles and outwardly advocated/advocates for autonomy for all people, pwud included. the fact that people find addiction - physical/behavioral dependance - a useful shorthand for a constellation of e/affects that can cause long-term distress does not equate to an unproblematized acceptance of pathologizing frameworks of nonnormative behavior. op identifies as an addict themself, and i think we as Madppl just have a lot to reckon with as far as whose lived experiences & perspectives are valued versus dismissed, whose are taken in bad vs. good faith.
