I was looking at the Trodgor page (if you weren't on the internet in *checks watch* 2003, this is the reference I am making) and I realized it's probably not just a weird, honestly kind of shitty doodle.

If you went through an ancient Egypt phase as a kid, you've probably seen a diagram like this before:

A lot of the primal runes have this semi-pictographic nature where they're clearly (or not-so-clearly) a depiction of the spell effect, like the fulminis rune is a lightning strike coming from a cloud, or aspiro is a gust of wind.
