I’ve been thinking, and I think I’m going to change the way I talk about my headcanons and wof writing to something like a rewrite/reworking. I love wof but it’s become really apparent that the way I engage with it is really more as a world to expand and work in vs a book series I’m analyzing as-is. I think it’ll give me the freedom to actually post the stuff I’m thinking and working on bc I don’t have to keep chaining myself to making it work with all the confusing and contradictory canon tidbits that Tui barely remembers she established. Thoughts?

Do you have NicoMaki headcanons you couldn't fit in your stories?

Maki’s cooking side-story in SIFAS is stuffed to the gills with NicoMaki adorableness that I cannot directly include in HtHaN without requiring some major retcons or rewrites. This isn’t to say I will never figure out a way to rework things and include it, but for the time being, I’m using the excuse that SIFAS is a time-compressed alternate dimension of the anime universe and thus is in many ways incompatible with my anime canon compliant HtHaN. But the headcanon that Nico thinks Maki’s figures are beautiful and worth protecting, for reasons beyond her being the pianist of µ’s, remains for me and will undoubtedly be included in HtHaN at some point. I mean I already had Nico imply a love for Maki’s surgeon/pianist hands in Soldiers’ Girls’ Night In, so something referring directly to her fingers wouldn’t be out of place. And I believe I’ve already revealed, or at least implied, that Nico does teach Maki how to cook.

Beyond that, I believe I can fit most everything else I have in my notes into HtHaN. If I can’t fit it, it quite likely isn’t anime canon compliant and thus may not be able to be considered a headcanon, unless I write a manga/diaries/SIF/SIFAS compliant story; gods help me if I take that route and start yet another fic...
