While Minamimoto and Coco are in some sort of like...higher plane-ish place, Minamimoto does what does and continues to absorb stuff around him. Hanekoma did, generally warn, Minamimoto not to run around and absorb stuff. The question is, is Minamimoto intentionally ignoring the advice and this might be subconscious or...Out of his control.

Or is Minamimoto absorbing things because that's what he does, and it has "worked" - and will work even better this time, for sure.

(And I'm debating that if it's something he's consciously doing, is he taking anything he can, or if he's focusing it - like, if could try and slowly absorb Joshua's power in particular... would that be helpful? And if Joshua is aware...they could both dance on the edge of disaster.)

I figured a good way to show his changes would be through his wings. I wrote about a potential link between Reaper wings, Soul Pulvis wings and Felidae Cantus' floating eyes in more detail here. We've seen Minamimoto get his wings messed up from Taboo, so why not Soul Pulvis? And for Another Day Minamimoto, his wings could create the floating eyes in the Felidae Cantus fight.

Small head-cannon from working on these panels: Hanekoma loves freely broadcasting his "writing report like thoughts" and Joshua makes a habit to chime in. Hanekoma can only get so annoyed when he's the one broadcasting them in the first place! There's nothing in these panels that indicate that Hanekoma is broadcasting his thoughts, so it's something I only really thought about after finishing it. Originally Hanekoma was going to be writing a report so Joshua could either read it or hear Hanekoma talk out loud.

Carry the Team - On the Fritz.

Post NTWEWY AU: The original context was having our Angels not doing so well and having the others carry them as they act like a source of light. It doesn't have a place in the story's AU at the moment so it's an Angel style and lighting exercise! And in Coco's case, Hanekoma isn't acting as her source of light anymore but she'll still need him around for...reasons, I'm sure!

Post NTWEWY AU: Hanekoma and Coco are drawing Minamimoto's refinery sigil? Together? And why... What is Hanekoma lecturing Coco about? Some backstory, answers and the sigil below.

I skipped a couple parts here after the comic where Hanekoma runs into Kaie, Rhyme, Coco and Minamimoto. After ironing out some details about Angels and kinda sorta Higher Planes things, Hanekoma gifts Rhyme and Kaie with some protective feathers in case they do want to get involved with the Higher Plane. (For whatever good it will do, but he did try to warn them!)

Then he has a chat with Coco and Minamimoto outside and away from Kaie's shop. There's some choice words from Coco about where Hanekoma has been the past three years and lecturing from Hanekoma to them about their aims towards the Higher Plane, the dangers of Minamimoto absorbing dangerous and unknown things, and the effect of Coco's sigil on Minamimoto.

Then there's talk about getting Minamimoto his proper body back, not some "cleaned up" version that Minamimoto has now due to Coco's copying of the sigil. (He's missing one whisker!! And perhaps some cool tattoos. Ones that aren't actual(?) taboo. We don't need overloaded taboo Minamimoto again.) A combined version of what he had before and now might be the form Minamimoto wants.

While Hanekoma and Coco bicker about who will be involved with drawing the sigil and how they will...destroy...Minamimoto's current body (can't revive something that already exists) Minamimoto decides to take the second half into his own hands and for one reason or another - maybe he tries to tune into a higher plane that he can't exist in, conduct an experiment, maybe he just blows himself up (as you do) - he destroys his own body, again, leaving Coco and Hanekoma to revive Minamimoto.

Here's the sigil you can kinda see on the ground with some draft details and labelling Hanekoma and Coco's sides. Not everything is aligned properly but it was good enough for this drawing.

Since Coco allows Hanekoma to help her with the sigil (probably because she doesn't quite remember it but she's not going to admit that) so they split the work up. A fun idea that came up during stream and chats afterwards was what if Coco used her colours of green and pink/purple? (Would that affect anything?) Would Hanekoma lecture her on improper tool usage, if that's a thing? Did Coco mess up pi's digits? Are her fundamentals poor?

Whatever it is, Coco would appreciate any feedback with less snark.

A pretty neat sigil break down can be found in this fic, Postmortem Analysis, which gave me a great starting point as to what the sigil contained.

Post NEO AU: Coco and Minamimoto run into Rhyme and Kaie, who happen to be developing a very handy Angel detection app that could be quite useful to them. And it looks like with a very small sample size, it might actually work.

Hanekoma wanted to visit Kaie to get advice on how his art will be perceived when shared digitally (NEO SR 11). Combine that with wanting Coco and Minamimoto to talk more with Kaie and Rhyme... what if all of that happened at once? It provides an opportunity for Rhyme and Kaie to get further involved with Higher Plane plot in the AU. The current plan is they won't be leaving their normal planes, they will still be help Coco and Minamimoto out.

I haven't quite decided on the... stages of the diamond marking in their eyes but I think the outline is for us readers to be aware of that a certain something can be present, not that anyone can necessarily detect it. But if it's filled in that does mean something else is present and at that point it would be clearly visible.

If I don't around to it, what Coco is referencing is one of the conditions Hanekoma has for working with Minamimoto and Coco is that Minamimoto should not try and take down Joshua on sight. Especially if Minamimoto is still after the Composer's seat.
