beck is the anti-burns not for any really complicated idealogical or abilities-based reasons or by function of how they were designed by dr hayes and dr miller — but because burns is short and uses contractions/slang, and beck is tall and does not use those things

this comparison becomes even messier with the homelanderification of beck and development of solar flare. all the same, beck bodies burns (alliteration always amazes) 100% of the time because burns is fireproof, not nukeproof. also, even though burns very informally trains in hand-to-hand combat (mostly mma type bullshit) with harris, burns is a gamer loser. he's really good at twiddling his thumbs around! and he's super strong/resilient bc of coeus experiments! but he is so laughably weak compared to beck; it is kind of hilarious they were designed and built/created around the same time.

Morning bike maintenance on my first day off this week. I was investigating an odd clunking noise that developed from the BB/cranks on my monstercross during last week's spin out to Skipton. Left crank off, genti tap the driveside crank and axle through with the rubber mallet....and the driveside BB cup went with it. Oh dear. The Nukeproof cup and bearing weren't corroded onto the axle, it just seems the threads on the shell have stripped out.

I'm not entirely sure how this failure could've happened, but never mind. I bought this old Cannondale frame off an internet forum for £60 in 2017. It got a fair battering in its MTB incarnation before the seat tube cracked. After repairing that, I've had a year and a half out of it as a monstercross - good proof of concept for my feelings about what are basically drop bar mountain bikes. Yeah, I like 'em.

So, strip down and transfer all the bits over onto a Spesh Rockhopper frame that I bought online in 2019 for the princely sum of £25! Pretty much a straight swap, just a change of cables required (plus the differing headsets). Not a disaster, I quite like building up a new bike...

I'm bummed that I'll never be able to buy a Ragley frame or a Nukeproof wheelset now, but it's hard to feel bad about Chain Reaction Cycles going bankrupt when they decide to say goodbye by ripping Apple off. Is this supposed to be a joke? Weird choice, all things considered.
