------------------------ The nightmare

my heart sinks when I finally understand where I am and where this corridor I'm walking down for the past few minutes is leading to. these way too familiar white doors are standing right in front of me, little voices cracking from inside of the room, like secret murmurs as I carefully open them. everything looks perfectly similar as it ever was. the rainbow around the walls, the toys scattered all over the floor and about ten kids with buzzed cuts and the same white gowns as the one I'm wearing myself. I cannot believe what I'm seeing here. it cannot be true.

"-please let me leave, I don't want to be back here, let me out ! do you hear me freaks?"

I beg as I look into the cameras and the one way mirror, trying to get to any doctor that is definitely watching me freaking out. my breath is heavy between my little sobs as I turn around, trying to find a way to get out. as I am about to get through the doors again, a delicate and careful voice gets my attention, sending chills in my neck down to my back. "-Well, well, look who finally decided to join us. Someone's a sleepyhead this morning. -oh my god.. Peter is that really you?" our gaze meet for the very first time in ages. my flustered green eyes look right into his hypnotic blue ones, those I have never thought looking at again in my life. they look exactly like they used to, full of kindness, the type of gaze that makes you feel safe whenever you look into it. that's what I've felt around Peter all these years. he made life so much easier, it just felt right. his blond hair look perfectly done, while mine were buzzed again.

"-please I need to get out again, I can't stay here, I don't even understand why you're here too, help me Peter... -what are you talking about sleepyhead? still not quite awake, hm?"

my head almost hit the head-bed as I get up so quickly I see stars. I look around me and recognize my room in the Wheeler's house in the dark, one of the street lamp slightly illuminates it through the night. I instantly put my hand on the top on my skull and sigh when I feel the soft of my curls. of course all of this was a nightmare, as I often do since I escaped the Hawkins Lab but this one was very different, it almost felt real. sometimes, I wonder if the doctors and orderly's ghosts are haunting me for what I did, a long time ago. but never had Peter haunted me like he did this time. I haven't seen his face for so long, it almost scared me.

I look at the clock next to me and sigh when I see the hands of the clock striking 5 a.m., so it's way too early to get prepared but I won't fall back asleep after that. my bare feet touch the cold floor and I get up to sit at my window. the rain is falling over Hawkins and it's giving me the comfort I can't have, the hug that I need right now, while Eddie is away. He's the one who usually comforts me after my nightmares, I would jump out my window and run to his house but I can't do that today since he is no where to be seen for now. today is the day Steve and all the little band would try and find him, she was included in it after she overheard their conversation. she could not believe they tried to hide it away as you were Eddie's closest friend.

the poor girl who died that day, it was not Eddie's act. he could not ever do that to anyone, I know him more than Dustin or the Hellfire Club. he's maybe a drug dealer, sure, but a killer ? never, this boy cannot hurt a fly. he was the one who helped me overcome my nightmares and my fears of the outside and the forest, it was him who was there for me when no one was. I have to return the favor now.

- -

"-Eddie, we're not with the police ! it's Dustin, we are friendly, get out !"

the party begins to scream around the house to find Eddie, I'm not one to talk so I just search quietly and see a shed in the back and try to alert Robin between the screams. We make our way down and open carefully the door. the room is darker than I thought, as the only light available is the moon and our shitty flashlights but I can still figure beers and so little food on a box, a sign that someone like Eddie has been living there for a time. a sound catches my attention and as I turn around, I see Steve hitting a tarp with an oar.

"-What are you doing ? -He might be in here."

I sigh as the duo starts to slightly fight. they often do this since Dustin met Eddie. I'm a hundred percent sure that Steve is very jealous of Eddie, but he's not showing it. he told me how him and Dustin would hang out the last few years, during summer, well it was mostly because of the strange things that happens in this town but since Dustin is in high school and plays DnD with Eddie and the club, their friendship changed a bit. he was mostly hanging out with Robin now and I know it makes him sad, but as I said, he's not showing it. "-I know you think you're being funny Henderson but considering the fact that everyone in this room as nearly died a hundred times, personally, I don't find it funny in the slight..."

He hasn't finished his sentence that a shadow got out of under the tarp and jumped on Steve, a broken bottle in his hand and tackles him against the wall, ready to strangle him as I immediately recognize my best friend, lost and scared.
