Any thought of fanverse(.)org/threads/madara-is-the-best-naruto-villain.1229852/page-4#post-63215247 ?
I don't know if the person provided the manga panels and they aren't uploading on my server, but I wasn't able to see any proof -should they put any-, that backed up their claims.
I don't want to waste my time on people that are clearly choosing to read a character in the most basic, lineal way and aren't willing to debate about it. Some characters are linear, that’s true, and Naruto’s manga has plenty of them, but Obito isn’t.
Obito might have mentioned Rin as a catalyst, but if they can't see the previous construction in Obito's character that explained why eventually he cracked when seeing her die, there's nothing I can do to help them. Obito literally questioned the shinobi system when no one else would:
"In the world, those who break the rules are scum, but those who abandon their friends are worse than scum.”
That's Obito not only questioning those who turned their back on Sakumo but also Konoha and, therefore, Kakashi's behavior. Kakashi represented the shinobi standard: no emotions, complete the mission, fuck everything else; it was Obito who challenged the credibility of a nation built by that system’s premise, but in the way only a kid who's realizing it can. Were they expecting a thirteen year old to recite the entire Communist Manifesto as to take his ideals for what they were, and later on, ended up becoming?
Rin was a catalyst? Yes. Was Rin the only reason? I mean, if they are unwilling to see every other interaction Obito had with multiple characters where he explained his reasoning and why he couldn’t trust anyone and anything but himself (Kisame, Obito, Nagato, Naruto), then why do they even bother to try to write about his characterization?
Naruto is more of a simp of Sasuke than Obito was of Rin, there, I said it.
