#i actually really *like* oedipus as scapegoat #but i think i read vernant's take on it first #and that one is much less literal than the arguments griffith discusses #oedipus as king of the year - celebrated; feasted; praised - and then slain #seems to track a little bit more as oedipus as innocent victim driven out #because of the simple fact that griffith points out here:#he's not innocent
