i have such strong feelings about anime/manga culture in the the ought 2000's (mostly due to escapism) like most of my irl/physical manga library is built off of it. some of my formative con-going experiences are built off of the fact that a guy i saw at a con when i was 13 was still at the university anime club when in was 19 even though he must have been pushing his mid-30s. dude taught me a lot about zubats at that one con i went to. my less-monitored otaku peers still taught me more, though. I kind of want to make a list of the series that i personally felt defined that era

#anime/manga/videogames... i had a lot of peers with differing perspectives even at that time.#it made for a varied and interesting formative experience with these mediums #that had just been emerging at the time #and that contributed heavily to how i relate to media at the present time #I would love to write some kind of... '#'snapshot in time' essay about the emerging trend of eastern/western media at the time #but all i have are emotionally charged snapshots of the experience #of growing up as a burgeoning otaku during the ought 2000s #with neglectful parental figures #but honestly? i wouldn't give it up for anything #it has made me appreciate creative and artistic endeavors in ways that most people wouldn't consider as being worth their time #tmi #long tags #talk #delete later #probably #man i used the word 'time' an embarrassing amount. anyway.#this is rambly bc im tired and stoned but. you get the point. 2000s anime nostalgia hits DIFFERENT
