I never hated a hero digi but I really disliked V-mon
Back then it was more of a hate of Davis and V-mon bc he was there. Nowadays I’m just sort of bored by Davis but V-mon still grates me. Yeah sure- I didn’t dig how the whole show was supposed to make the original cast fucking useless, but Davis was just a pawn in that, not to blame.
Now looking deeper at the series, I see I’m justified in my V-mon dislike.
It’s not just that V-mon was boring. It’s not just that he gets to be a holy knight...twice. It’s not just that he has a zillion evolutions who are are super boring.
It’s this guy. This guy was apparently the franchise mascot before it hit the airwaves. For the TV tho they decided to go with Agumon instead which- I mean, come on, who doesn’t love Agumon? But then ofc Adventure 02 came along and finally gave us a rookie form for this guy. And it was, ofc, V-mon.
Who is fine? Honestly? Does not have the lumpy ugly/cuteness of Agumon. V-mon’s streamlined, more limber and brighter than V-dramon. Actually, honestly he feels like they took V-dramon and redesigned him from the ground up and decided to make him Hip and Cool for the kids. This is more evident when you see his ‘official’ evo.
Still has the long-limbed look- makes V-dramon looking chubby in comparison. The goofy grin is gone. The worst thing is that the description says that Vdramon is variance. So this thing is knocking the old mascot off it’s throne right there in the description.
It’s just a more...idk...sellable version of the fat blue dino, but with less personality.
This is like if Alex Hirsch had first given us a comic about Dipper, and then released a show about Mabel, and then in the second season made Mabel a background character and switched gears and said the whole franchise was actually about Dippy Fresh all along
