tai can't seem to figure mikayla out, and that's both incredibly frustrating and exciting all at the same time. she's tried to keep everyone at a distance ever since returning, attempted to craft the perfect persona for herself here at school, but she can't shake the way mikayla distracts her in a way that she is desperate to figure out yet doesn't want to get too deep with. because when something is good, when something feels right, it's inevitably going to crash and burn -- and she is trying so hard not to go there again.

she was leaned forward, eyes on her shoes, ready to leave from mikayla's place because that's what she was supposed to do, but her words make her freeze, and she slowly looks back to mikayla, debating it in her head for a moment. she starts to smile, leaning back next to her instead. βΒ okay. β she should, because any more time spent with her could lead her down a path she shouldn't go down, but she's greedy now, ignoring the way her mind clutters with what could go wrong, instead focused entirely on her. βΒ i don't want to leave, anyway. β
