i think it would be interesting if sonia had complications during birth, nothing permanent, but it was touch and go if eddie was going to make it for a day or two. specifically, i think it would be interesting if eddie was born premature. premature babies are typically smaller than ones born closer to term, and they often have under-developed organs. eddie would be fine eventually, he would get back on track at about a week and be sent home but the doctors had to stick a tube or two in him to keep him alive.

and this wouldn't impact him in any way, i think because of the asthma it would be interesting if his lungs were what was underdeveloped, but it has no effect, the only thing that him being born premature changes about him is that he has a scar somewhere, not a super big one, but something noticeably different from the rest of his skin.

i also want to emphasize how small a lot of premature babies are, like 5 pounds or less, thats the weight of one of those big coke bottles maximum, i think that'd scare the shit out of sonia, really emphasize in her mind how small and weak eddie is.

and i'm sure sonia brought up the bronchitis as a guilt tripping technique too, eddie, you almost died, do you know how scary that was for me? you can't do that to me eddie, you're fragile eddie, i just don't want you to get hurt. but the thing about the underdeveloped organs thing is that it would leave a scar, eddie would be able to see on his body the mark this story his mom keeps telling him left.

even when he doesn't remember his childhood anymore, he'd see this gnarly fucking scar and it'd be a reminder of his own fragility. and i think it'd scare the fuck out of him. i almost died surrounded by a team of doctors, what the fuck am i going to do alone?
